Transmission whine only during cold startup

Ive read lots about Vibe's and Matrix transmission problems, but none no where near what mine is doing. Luckily, unlike all the others I read about, mine has not failed and still runs great. Mine on occasion makes a whining noise when I start it up cold in the morning. Not everytime. Will not alter the whine if revving up, and fades away as I drop it into gear. Does not make nay noises at all while regular running down the road OR under any kind of load. The fluid has been changed every 30k since new, Fluid Is not low, 165k on it now.Has anyone else seen similar? Thanks,Mike Valley Grande, AL

Have you ever replaced the serpentine belt?

Yep, every 50k whether it needed it or not. Most recently about 10k ago. I did once think of the belt, but as stated in earlier post. Revving the engine has no effect on the whine at all, if it were a belt it would increase or change as the rpms do. Its not a routine maint item issue....if anything I am overly (removed) about all maint on everything I own.

What type of fluid do you use?

The Toyoata recommended fluid...T-IV I think they call it. Cheaper than the GM fluid and been using it since new.

Probably just a mileage/age related chirp. Nothing too serious, but I'd pay attention to it and maybe start some savings in case it gets worse.

I Hope so....it doesnt do it every day, sometimes many cold cranks between. Though I like to see it go many, many more k miles, its given me over 160 flawless, and its paid for. If it goes, I'll just bite the bullet and get another tranny.
