As I was reading the recent posts in the forums, I've noticed that GM service departments really SUCK. They make stupid mistakes and then don't want to fix them properly. Any recommendations on service departments? The closest to me is Plaza and Addison on Bay. I'll be going in for my first service next week.Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

My mom has a Cavalier. My jaw dropped when she told me her dealer charges $40 for a stinkin' oil change.

Well they charged me $44 for an oil change because of a $12 Toyota part required for the Vibe. Mista, how much do you pay at a Toyota dealership, because I will go there if it is cheaper.

$44?! (removed)?!$26.95+tx all day everyday at all Toyota dealerships. Not that that's cheap either but it definitely ain't no 40 dollar oil change!

I wonder if Toyota would do the oil changes for me, even though it is a Pontiac? I mean the it is a Corolla engine afterall.

I find all service/maintence packages at GM are way over priced. I would do as much as I could myself at home or friends place like, tire rotation, coolant flush, etc... oil changes, transmission filters, etc.. you could go to any reputable oil changing company like quick lube or somewhere and get them to do it. Even cdn tire is cheaper for some maintence stuff, and way faster than GM. The ONLY think i take my car into GM for is warranty work, and I hate having to do that. They keep your car forever for the littlest thing wrong. Anyways hope that helps... As far as vehicle maintance goes, shop around it doesnt matter as long as you follow your cars maintence guide with somewhat good accurancy your car will be fine at a reputable garage. Some of the scheduled maintence stuff I find is required to do too early so you should use your own judgement!Ryan
