I came here in search of an answer.. my Girlfriend has a 2008 Vibe with just over 55,000 miles on it. She had a musty smell in her car and a noise when she used the air conditioning and turned to the left. When we go any place I'm the one who drives, so today she was in passenger seat and her purse was all wet.I think (I mean I hope) your guys solution to check under the carpet for an A/C drain.. gonna go look in a few minutes. Thanks!

It's up and behind where the passengers left foot would be. There's a pic on a recent thread here...http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=41779Welcome to GenVibe BTW!!!

I have had the same problem as well, I checked both AC drains....they were fine. It turned out to be the passenger side sunroof drain. There was a glob of dirt blocking the hole.

Musty smell can also be the cabin air filter, especially if it's never been changed. It's located behind the glove box. There are several related threads if you SEARCH for Cabin Air Filter. This one rambles a bit --> http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=31485As noted in the middle of the thread, the arrows in this image (from the 2006 owner's manual) are the wrong direction. You actually push down, not up, to release the clips holding the cover over the cabin filter. The filters are expensive, and the Toyota Matrix cabin air filter is NOT the same one, unlike air filter and oil filters.

Well, the camera battery was dead, so I figured I'd wait until morning.. when it's light out. I am charging the battery now and will have a pic shortly if needed.Anyway, what I did so far was pull up the carpet and I see a hose going through the floor. It seems securely in there. This is where the left foot would be. I'll remove it and clean it with something if it's clogged.A little bit away from that are some wires connected to a plug. They go through the floor also. Maybe these control the dashboard or something. They are a little wet on the bottom. I say maybe these control the dashboard because I didn't mention it earlier, but one of the lights on the dashboard goes off and on randomly. There's the three dials.. left one chooses where you want air to come out.. that one is 99% of the time off.

... and as for the cabin filter.. I supposedly had it changed.. I say supposedly because you never know if one of those quick lube places actually does change it. I think the musty smell is def from our water problem.

Well, I pulled the hose off. I bent it straight so I could look through it in the light. It doesn't seem clogged, although there is some piece of rubber in there that kind of shaved off the side. It's still connected to the side, though.I also shoved something upwards into where the hose came from. Seems free and unclogged as well.I'm thinking this problem has been there for awhile, because my Girlfriend has been saying the car stinks like a fart LOL! I told her there's no way a fart would stay in the seat cushion that long. So, attached to this is a picture of the water on the ground that came out while I was fooling around in there.. not counting the water that fell in my empty iced tea bottle and on the floor. That seems like a lot of water.. we haven't turned the car on all day!

If you look under the engine bay, can you see where the water is coming from?

Smell like a "trucker fart" with dirty (removed) cleavage or smelly toes? but normally it does smell a bit if the supply air (the environment) is very humid and polluted.Check and see if the air vents are moist and sticky , it might be leaking evaporator/refrigerant hose..
