Vanishing Parts Supply

I've finally joined the forum after following it since my 94 VIBE AWD was new. Now the truth is sinking in: GM is no longer supporting it for parts. My rear differential seals are leaking and Pontiac no longer has replacements. My mechanic has ordered Matrix parts; let's hope they fit.So has anyone else yet found GM is no longer supporting VIBE owners?

I have always bought my Vibe parts from Toyota anyway except when repairs were made under warranty thru GM.

OOps - I did mean '04. At my age what's ten years? This is the first major repair ever on this car - at about 80,000 miles. Other than front brake pads, a few light bulbs replaced, and the power window recall it's needed absolutely nothing! Oh yes, a wild Vermont turkey collided with the passenger side mirror. An easy replacement job thanks to instructions on this forum.

i had some body work done recently at my local stealership. 3 weeks later, i'm still waiting for the taillight assembly to show up. if a dealer can't get basic parts for a '10, who can?

They most likely won't do that. This would be the only problem I see in the future. Body parts could be the issue, but mechanical you will/should be ok.

I have always bought my Vibe parts from Toyota anyway except when repairs were made under warranty thru GM.I buy everything through Toyota as well. Although, so far this has only included oil filters and cabin air filters, but yes, GM definitely adds a ridiculous markup to what are clearly genuine Toyota parts. Case in point, I went to my local GM dealer to buy an oil filter when it was time for the first oil change last year. They wanted $13.xx for one filter which was nothing more than a genuine Toyota oil filter in an AC Delco box ! Next time I needed one, I called the Toyota dealer and they said they had them for $4.60 a piece for the same exact thing (minus the AC Delco box of course )! Needless to say, after that I have never returned to the GM dealer for any parts and never will. The guys at the Toyota dealer know me well now and they think it's hysterical that I have a Vibe and am buying parts from them . I prefer the Toyota dealer for many more reasons than just their pricing too. The employees are much friendlier and they don't try to make me feel like I don't know what I'm talking about when clearly I do thanks to GenVibe .Quote, originally posted by Zimm »i had some body work done recently at my local stealership. 3 weeks later, i'm still waiting for the taillight assembly to show up. if a dealer can't get basic parts for a '10, who can?Quote, originally posted by ou.grizzly »That is not comforting newsQuote, originally posted by keithvibe »They most likely only deal with one vendor... my thought would be for you to start searching the internet for the part. Like keith said, they aren't going to go out of their way to find a part for you, so it's not surprising. I'm not too worried about body parts, as there is the internet, junkyards and if you get too desperate, GM Parts Direct. I don't see it being that big of an issue.Quote, originally posted by keithvibe »I don't know what your talking about,(i realize he's 69) my father is 70 and still has me Mod his car... lol>>> dad's rideLOL! That's awesome! My mom will be 50 in January and she couldn't be happier with the stuff I have done to her Vibe for her .
