Wanting to drop the transmission pan to clean the filter and change some of the fluid on my 04 auto 2 wheel vibe and replace the gasket ,the Advanced Auto person said," there are three gaskets available depending on the number on your transmission". I couldn't find any numbers that he was refering to......Aisin U240E, Aisin U341E Aisin A246EHas anyone seen these numbers ? One of these transmission numbers is for a 19 bolt pan , the other two for a 18 bolt. My fluid pan has only 18 bolts. I have to order the gasket. Someone said if your glove box had the number MU4 ....then that could mean you have a A246E trans . Is that correct? Any help would be appreciated. Don't want to just flush .

The 19-bolt pan is for the 2zz/GT motor. You want the gasket for the 18-bolt pan which is for the 1zz/Base/AWD motor. I don't know what the transmission number it is. It doesn't matter which one, the gaskets are the same.

http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=33173 kevera uploaded a pdf that says which tranny is which, as
http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...s.pdfsays A246E Base/1ZZ FWD AutoU240E GT/2ZZ AutoU341F Base/1ZZ AWD Autoso if you have a 2004 base two wheel drive auto, should be the A246E(C59 is base 1ZZ 5 speed manual, C60 is GT/2ZZ 6 speed manual)and to answer the thread title, here's a pic of where toyota thinks the tranny ID is locatededit - looking at the spare c59 in the garage, the location of the ID is where the tranny serial number is, not any sort of model number identifier, but since the auto trannies all have the serial numbers in different places, if you find the serial number, you can tell what kind of tranny it is by where the serial number was.

Thanks guys.....I couldn't find any of those trans numbers. They're probably hiding under the battery ..... Anyway, got a kit with filter and gasket from Autozone Duralast TF177 for $16. Like you said, your trans is a A246E type if you have a 2004 Vibe, front wheel drive, automatic, transmission
