The one thing I always like to keep in my Vibe is an umbrella. But my umbrella is also the one thing that really doesn't have a designated storage spot in the Vibe. I usually throw it on the rear passenger side floor so I can reach it from my seat, but it is then in the way of getting stepped on if I have back-seat passengers. If they had put a pocket on the rear of the front passenger's seat I would probably try to keep it there. But the pocket is only on the driver's seat. So today I decided I could make a sling to hold it just below the passenger headrest. I found some plastic mesh at the local Alco Craft department. Two 7/16" holes let it hook over the headrest posts. It wraps under and around the umbrells, then snaps to itself. The plastic mesh will let a wet umbrella dry. I think it looks nice there. And it is in a perfect position to grab from the driver's seat without impeeding on rear passenger room.Image below. Tell me what you think.KSNeptune

Dude, that's great! Good thinking!!! I keep one in the long under-floor storage bin in the rear, but if it's raining, that doesn't help much!I keep another mini one in my glove box, but for drying purposes, i have to throw it on the ground...The only drawback I'd see with that is a wet umbrella would rest against the seat back...that aside, I think it's really smart!

But since the Vibe is the car I want to drive when my wife wants to go out with me, I'll pick it up and try to find someplace else. Usually I at least roll it up to take up less room. The back or the seat, if wet, would probably dry out faster than the carpet. And if it's raining, you are wet, and you sit down in the car you've already gotten the driver's seat wet before with no apparent damage.Now I've just got to get a nicer compact umbrella. My Vibe hasn't let me out into the rain much. It stays parked in a garage at home. And it seems like if I head out while it is raining, the rain has usually stopped when I get to my destination. But I'll throw out another critique against the door rain gutter design (or lack of it)... It drips! In my old Nissan Pickup the gutter directs heavy rain around the door opening. In the Vibe there is NO gutter, and so water rolls right around the door opening and drips off the interior lip when the door is open. Makes me wonder if they ever tested the car for heavy rain performance during development.KSNeptune

I never really noticed the dripping problem...I mean, I'm sure it happens, I doubt my car was built differently than anyone elses...but it certainly isn't bad enough for me to notice it...*shrug*
