Clear sticker thing on rear door bottom

Post by Unique Witty Name »

Hi,not sure if this is the place to post this, but I noticed a clear sticker on the bottom part of the rear doors that I am assuming protects the paint from stone chips?Anyways, one of them is peeling and discolored and I am wondering whether there are replacements available or if I should just peel it off and hope that the paint doesnt get damaged more than it already is?Thanks

This sounds like a clear paint protection material I am familiar with, but pictures would help. Are you saying that this material is on the rocker panels?Either way, I would replace it if I were you. Try http://www.lamin-x.com for strips and /or bulk material.

I have it on my Matrix as well. It is for protecting against any rocks or debris that could get thrown up by the front wheels. It is just a small patch and mine is starting to peel as well. Until it gets worse I will then just pull it off, but for now it's only a tiny bit.

The 'clear sticker thing' was factory-applied to plastic lip of the rear doors of '03-'08 cars with the 'monotone package', an extra-cost option where the lower body is painted to match the upper body, instead of gray lower-body cladding.
