Winter rubber advice for a anti-lock free Vibe.

So I bought my 05 2WD in the spring of 09. Well the winter approached and I quickly learned my Vibe did not have anti-lock brakes (which I was used to using for 15 years and miss greatly). I did ask the dealership if the car had them at the time I bought it, he said "of course", he was very wrong. So winter was a nightmare here in Pittsburgh last year, I slid into a curb cracking up a hubcap and bending a rim among many other close calls. Any advice for a decent set of winter tires that are reasonably priced as well. I'm assuming 4 are better than 2. Also I have a long daily commute so if anyone knows of any that are better on the MPG that's a big plus.

Considering the added cost I doubt that many Vibes had anti-lock brakes before they became standard in 2009. My recollection of looking at new Vibes on the lots over the years is that few had that option. As for trusting the used car salesman to know or tell the truth if he/she did know, well as they say, "in your dreams", "when donkeys fly" etc. One upside, I bet those anti-lock brakes cost a lot to repair.

Get 4 tires. when you run two snow tires the car has a tendency to slip sideways.
