Standard spark plugs in a GT?

Post by Vibenator »

I’ve got only 32,000 miles on my ’03 GT and still have the original Denso Iridium plugs in it. It runs fine. However, since I don’t like the idea of keeping the same plugs in my car for eight years (not a fan of seized spark plugs), and since they’re so easy to replace in the Vibe, I was thinking of replacing the Iridiums with standard (and much cheaper) set of NGK V-Power or the equivalent Denso plugs. I’ve used NGK V-Power plugs in all my cars for years with excellent results. I assume that the stock Iridiums are there simply because of their extended replacement interval and sales appeal – less maintenance sells cars. I don’t think installing a set of NGK V-Power plugs would adversely affect performance, and I don’t mind replacing plugs at frequent intervals. I’d like to hear about the experiences of Vibe GT owners who are running (or have run) spark plugs other than the Denso Iridiums.
