Not your average Vibe sighting in Warren, Michigan!

If anybody remembers how much I complain about never seeing anyone proudly representing the Vibe in my neck of the woods... (ajflan, you moved away, so I don't get the pleasure anymore!) well, forget it.Madison Heights into Warren, eastbound on 13 Mile Road, what do I see?A 1st Gen maroon up ahead, with Nightshades on the tails and a vanity plate: 2 WIRED. At a light, I was able to notice nice after market rims (black with red-line on the lip, perfect with the maroon) and the aftermarket hood with two raised vents, painted to match (like BlancoDiablo's).He caught up to me and we had a short, friendly shout at 35 MPH. He then promptly reminded me how much fun I am missing with a slushbox, and blew right by. Ha! For all I know, everyone of you knows this guy but me. He went north on Mound Rd.This meeting NEVER would have happened if I hadn't forgotten stuff for work back at my house. I am never driving around at 1:45 on weekdays. Desk job FTL. But, it worked out!So, is this guy a member? "Tell me, who are yoooou..." <--- For The Who fans out there.

Sometimes, I think the chance meeting of two people that are into the same car (or whatever whatnots/widgets) is more enjoyable than going to an organized Meet where you know people are there for the same reason. I have had this happen to me on occasion as well. The joy that is felt is felt on a higher level, along with that immediate surprise that surly comes along for the ride. This sounds like just such an occasion. I am happy for you and hope this guys finds us here.Did you happen to mention GenVibe in your short, 35mph discussion?

I have genvibe.com decals on both sides, so I was hoping he noticed. It was so hard to hear one another, but there's NO WAY he's not on here. The Vibe was in great shape, with tastefully done aftermarket add-ons and ran like a top. Nobody takes that good of care of their Vibe, shows off the manual transmission, is under the age of 30 and HASN'T been on here. IMO, of course.

in a way, it almost sounds like Kevera, but he's in ONT.

I think Kevera switched to the other hood though. Hmmm, other than Glenpert (sp.) who I believe is in Florida and has a lava red vibe, I can't think of anyone else on here with this hood. Great story either way, maybe he will show up someday.

Man, I am surprised we haven't pegged this yet! This thing was looking nice, and I could tell he was proud of it. And with the time of day I saw him, not sure if I'll see him again anytime soon. Too bad we don't have a way of breaking down "who" has "what" color/year – which would be dependent on all of us submitting such data, but still.

I never saw it again... until now. I think:
http://detroit.craigslist.org/....htmlE-mail sent, asking if he is the same Vibe/guy I saw. If so, could he possible have avoided/not known GenVibe the entire time he owned the car all together?

Mystery solved! And Blanco, you commented in his introduction thread! So I wasn't far off when I compared it to yours, originally. Hood brothers, if you will.

There is a Fusion Vibe around here at one of the used car places with some kind of aftermarket hood and black flames or something on it. I'll have to go some Sunday when they are closed and take some pics

No it was at one of those little skeevy used car dealers that look really sketchy, we have a whole block of those things nearby which was why I was afraid to go look at it in the first place, lol.Dang, I wondered when I drove by whether it was a custom hood or lame stickons and I guess it was the latter. For some reason, the flames don't bother me.

Ah... I see. Like you said, just go check it out on a Sunday when they're closed. That's what I did the other day when I noticed one of the small lots in town had a Dodge Caliber SRT4 on their lot. It's a good thing I didn't research those before I bought the Vibe or I'd probably be driving one of those instead .Yeah, they're definitely stick on hood scoops which look as cheesy as the stick on fender vents . The flames are okay, but I think it would look better without them. And there's nothing that bothers me more than when tint is turning purple. It means either the person did it themselves with crappy quality tint or they used cleaner with amonia in it to clean the windows. If it's turning purple... just peel it off already !
