I have always used the ACDelco PF1233 filters on my two Vibes ('03 & '07) just because that would be the GM counterpart for the original equipment filter. However GM no longer manufactures their own filters and I do not consider the Vibe to be a GM product anyway.I have noticed that I am getting barely one full turn on the thread before gasket contact so that gives me about two turns before it is tight. The ACDelco filters on my other GM cars always turn about six times before gasket contact.I am not comfortable with only two threads holding the filter on so I am thinking of changing to genuine Toyota filters to see how they fit. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this with the ACDelco product.

can't help with the ac delco, i've only been using the toyota filters

...except for the original OEM filter it came off the production line with, I've been using the "new" ECO-friendly Toyota cartridge elements in my 2009 1.8L Vibe.

Thanks guys. I think I'll be changing to the Toyota filters from now on. Can't go wrong that way.

ACDelco does not manufacture any of their own parts anymore. the parts are either sourced from one of the companies that makes parts for all brands (i.e. Fram/Wix, etc) or directly from the company that makes the OEM part. in the case of my '10 Vibe, the OEM part is ACDelco, meaning it's probably made by either Fram or Toyota's parts supplier, as they are the only 2 sources i've found for oil filters.

I did notice usen the purolator filter,it gets kinda crushed,like it's a tad too long.

I use Fram Tough Guard filters on my vehicles (they all have over 90k miles). I have always been able to start spinning the filter on the thread about 1/2" to 3/4" before it contacts the gasket. If what you are saying is true, it sounds like you have about 1/8" - 1/4" thread engagement . I am surprised that you have not lost your filter or stripped the threads on the filter during install.

I agree, less than two turns is not nearly enough. I picked up a couple of Toyota filters today.It is a fact that ACDelco does not manufacture anything anymore. Their batteries come from Johnson Controls. JCI manufactures about 75% of the batteries in North America, both original equipment and aftermarket. super-tech cheapo filters FTW! Better than crap fram filters & made by Champion (some ares of the USA they are made by Wix). Mine definitely don't hang on by only 2 threads..more like 6-7 before the gasket is tightened properly.

Have used AC Delco or Toyota oil filters on our 2004, 2008, and (2) 2009 Vibes. Never had an issue with either.

I have just purchased a 2009 Vibe AWD with the 2.4L motor and upon looking up the oil filter number in various cross references, I find that the Matrix filter is a different number than the Vibe number. I compared all the specs for the two filters and find that each and every spec is exactly the same except the length of the Matrix filter is about a half inch longer than the Vibe filter. Has anyone experienced any issues one way or another with this? In all the engines I've owned in the past, I've always went with the bigger filter if more than one was available but I just wanted to check.

Apparently, before Allied Signal bought the Fram brand, they were one of the best filters on the market (in the 80's & before) but now they are probably the worst you can buy regardless of what sub-line you buy. I have seen forum posts about the glue separating from the paper filter element & cardboard endcaps leaking. Champion makes the Super Tech brand filters & walmart almost always stocks the OE size for the corolla/matrix/vibe. They are about $2.49-2.99 each
