This fake antivirus malware calling itself AntiVir has been making the rounds, keep your eyes out for it. My husband just got it today and my dad (who does tech support for a living) has already had to clean it off of five computers. It will pop up, claim you have a bunch of security alerts, and then demand that you purchase their program. EDIT: The fake one is called Antivir Solution Pro, not to be confused with Avira Antivir

There are a lot of malware programs that does this, if any "antivirus" program pops up on your screen and you are unsure the best bet is to Google the name. I've had viruses that wouldn't allow me to open my real antivirus program (Kaspersky), claiming it was a corrupt program it would also mess with the settings so Kaspersky couldn't update its database. It was a pain to fix it.

That's strange. I use Avira Antivir:

I think this might be a fake version, because I've heard of the other one as well. It did not look anything like the Avira one.The fake one looks like this:

Be very careful with these. If you do start the scan, it will corrupt almost every file on your computer. I had a few people in my office do this and we had to completely format the hard drive.
