Hey guys, i know the stock m&t monsoon speakers arent the greatest in the world, but since ive already upgraded my head unit and added a pair of subwoofers, i was wondering how they compared to entry-level aftermarket speakers? I understand that since they run with a 2 ohm load the stock amp is practically useless, and i would either be buying a new amp, or relying on the head unit's 17w rms.Also, other than size and power handling (which ive already considered) would these be a decent replacement, or would i be better off keeping the stock speakers?http://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlIm fine with waiting and paying more for an amp and nice speakers, but id be better if you guys had some suggestions for name brand, inexpensive upgrades.

I am not a big fan of those speakers really. The only pioneer speakers worth any thing are the higher end ones. I would spend a little more money and go with Polk, Rockford, or Hifonics I really like RE Audio also and you can pick them up for cheap on ebay. Also I don't really know your current setup ,but the optimal setup would be to not power anything with the stop amp and rewire everything. I would get a good amp for your subs and a good amp for the rest of the speakers. Also you can run 4 ohm speakers with the stock amp you just won't get the power into the speakers as if they were 2 ohm.

I almost bought those as a economical replacement myself. I ended buying a pair of Polks instead. Im planning to keep the Vibe for a while so I figure I would buy a quality speaker & spend money once. Well worth it. Crutchfield occasionally has sales & they have something called the "outlet" where you can get a discount on returned & opened items....with the factory warranty. I have the factory M&T amp & the Polks sound great!!!

The Polk db651 seem to be popular here. http://www.sonicelectronix.com....htmlThey have better sensitivity than the Pioneers you linked (92 vs. 90 db), and should get a little louder with the power from the factory amp or the headunit. I would run them off of the headunit.

Just for the knowledge of the general population, I have a sony CDX-GT930ui Head unit, and a pair of 10" Alpine Type-E 4ohm subwoofers in a sealed box getting about 1.1 cu ft of space per woofer.It sounds pretty good, but I feel like from what ive heard, it could be better with aftermarket speakers
