Engine Stickers/Decals

Any idea if anyone makes the sticker/decal overlay for the "VVT-i 16V" on the engine cover of the 2009/2010 2.4L Vibes?I know GrafxWerks has one for the 2008 and earlier vibes, but of course the size of the letters is different...For my painting plan, I was going to leave the letters their original silver and tape them over when I painted, but my silver was all chipped and nasty so I just sanded it off. Stickers anywhere, or am I paining this by hand? (or just leaving it red like the rest of the cover for now, I guess)Pics will come of all this (and the new intake) in my garage when I am finished!

To my knowledge no one makes overlays for our ('09-'10 2.4L) engine covers. I can't believe the paint on neither mine nor my mom's engine covers is peeling, chipping, cracking, etc. at all. I swear we're the only ones here without this problem .Painting it shouldn't be a big deal. Can't wait to see pictures, and better yet, see it in person in two weeks !

with mine, I painted them by hand before I found out about grafxwerks...Not happy with my results. You may be better with a brush than I am, but the texture I got kills me. I wanted it smooth and perfect. You can't feel it, but you see when you study it in the light. Still not too late for me to cover mine up tho 8)

I did OK by hand with a foam brush (the kind you get at a hardware store) but since it's a shiny paint you can see all the paint strokes in the light. Still though, the edges were pretty good. Looks better than my old chipped-up one.

Why not spray the cover in the colour you want the lettering, let it dry for a couple days, then mask off the lettering and spray the cover again with the red?

It took forever for me just to mask off the squares so the lines are straight, and those are, well, squares. I'm satisfied enough with how it looks now to avoid spending all that time.

...well, it looks like you solved your problem very admirably!...excellent job done indeed!

same reason i didn't spray my lettering. it's next to impossible to mask off

I noticed a couple days ago that the silver is just starting to chip away on the bottom edge of the letters/numbers on my 2010 AWD. I did the 'VVT-i 16 valve' on my wife's '05 in red, as she has the red grafxwerks overlays on the Vibe badges. I did a mask and spray and it turned out ok, should've just got that overlay from grafxwerks as well, oh well..might still do it anyway.I guess I'll leave mine alone for now, although I know it isn't going to get better. I'll rethink the plan and try to do a better job than I did on wifey's car. JR

get hold of Grafxwerks and see if he will make one for you. I sent my engine cover to him many years ago so he had the template.

I'm sure if there's demand there (and oh, there IS demand ) he'll gladly do it to make profit off of future salesI know I would anyways

Any way to scan your cover and send me the pic?

maybe take a pic from DIRECTLY above for a template, then measure the dimensions of the words and kinda go from there?would that work?

Not really, as the image will be slightly skewed when taken with a camera. If scanned and given the correct measurements, I can make a decal that should fit perfectly.

I will do a little more research on this). My paint isn't peeling yet, but I fear it will start to soon so I would rather be prepared for the inevitable.Ryan definitely makes a great product! I have had my metallic silver GenVibe stickers for over a year now and they look as great as the day I received them. They haven't started peeling, faded, anything. Great product for sure !

I drove mine a bit without the engine cover the day I painted it, when I drove about 20 miles or so to test the intake. I don't think the cover has any practical use, it seems to be just cosmetic...

Hi Ryan,As we discussed in e-mail a few weeks ago, I can send you my 2009 engine cover the last week of July, and you can have it for a month (I won't be driving my Vibe in August), but you said you didn't know if you could get to it then. So, can you do us up a 2009/2010 VVT-i 16V overlay if I send you the engine cover about July 24th?Thanks,Geoff

I will definitely buy two sets of the overlays when they come out though!Quote, originally posted by ponta2147 »I drove mine a bit without the engine cover the day I painted it, when I drove about 20 miles or so to test the intake. I figured it wouldn't hurt anything, but I would rather find out for sure than take it off and have something bad happen to my baby .

Yes, I will probably also buy overlays in silver- my paint doesn't look bad in terms of the lines, but because it's a shiny paint rather than a matte paint, you can see the brush strokes in the shine.

I will be getting them in metallic silver (same as the GenVibe stickers) too. At least now I won't have to worry about the engine cover looking like crap because of the paint coming off !

Sweet! That didn't take him too long at all. The red looks awesome against the black cover ! I will definitely be ordering two of these in metallic silver and I am thinking of getting a couple of the Poyota decals in metallic silver as well (gotta represent our heritage ).

Ryan is sending my cover back with a Regular Dark Red overlay (it may be there now, waiting for me to get home). I think it is the one in the GrafxWerks item photo, so I can't wait to install it!I would like to replace my engine cover nuts with red anodized nuts, or at least chrome, but I can't find anything suitable online. Does anyone know a source for a big selection of anodized fasteners?

Looks incredible, but I have to say....he should have measured the four squares above the text and sold it all as a set for more $$$$IMO that would "POP" a lot more when you lifted the hood. And it's WAY easier than painting...right Ponta2147?

I read this post a couple/three weeks ago. My letters were chipping away also. I went with the metalic copper letters, looks awesome!!! I'll get a pic up soon. When I had just ordered the letters I had a pretty high shipping so I added the rear hatch pontiac arrowhead for my 04 Vibe (It had turned pink) and the shipping price was good. Must be a dicount there somewhere. Both sets were $20 shipped.
