OK I finally got it done, and finally uploaded all pics to my cardomain site. Click here for viewing
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3827164/2 This project ended up being WAY more involved than I had ever imagined BUT the end result is priceless and worth every hour I spent on it This is a mod that you just can't buy off a shelf and bolt in in place. I thoroughly enjoy projects such as this even though the time spent is overkill. This special High Mount Brake Light (aka HMBL) contains 66, 3mm LED's rated at 2.2 volts & 6000mcd. Six of them in series works out great for the average car voltage of 13.8 or so without doing any harm whatsoever. I have them arranged in a pattern to spell ... well what else but ... VIBE GT! It just happened to fit the dimensions of the old HMBL and used up exactly the right multiplier of six! I went one step further and wanted this light to be more than just an extra brake light. Thanks to a 5 watt, 250 ohm wirewound resistor, these LED's dim down to a respectable "park light" glow and come on when the park lights are on. These pictures do not do justice as it looks truly incredible in person. I'll be at the Indy meet for those interested in seeing it "live". Enjoy .................................. Tim

Brandon. YES, that price is correct. I still have not located a "spare" 03-08 HMBL assy for your generation Vibe. I inquired on this site a couple of times if anybody had a spare one they'd sell me but never got any replies. Otherwise I could be fabricating one up right now. I don't want to borrow anybody's due to me possibly getting slammed with work and needing more time to create it, so I'd rather have one I can keep. Do some searches for me and if you can find one reasonable then forward me the info and I'll purchase it. We'll take care of you soon .................................. Tim

I just installed our "VIBE GT" custom LED HMBLs today and they look awesome! Huge thank you to Tim for making these for us! These things are very high quality. He even sent the drill bit and screws used to install it. Great product from an outstanding guy !Here are a few pictures (I will get some night shots tonight when it gets dark):Quote, originally posted by tpollauf »I still have not located a "spare" 03-08 HMBL assy for your generation Vibe. Worst case scenario, GMPD has a brand new one for $51.64 ($38.69 + $12.95 shipping) . The part number for it is: #88969952.You could also check car-part.com and maybe call around to some junkyards to see if you could get one cheap.

OK Brandon, you've given me the challenge. I'll have to get my other "spring honey-do list" caught up in the next few weeks so I can justify the time to get yours made. I see no problem there. E-mail me a contact for you and I'll reply back with a mailing addressCarrie. Looks good so far I see you used your Mom's Vibe as the guinea pig for the first installation. Wait till dark and you see how bright these are With our GT spoilers you do get some reflection off of it but not enough to worry about. If it does become an issue, flat black the underside of the spoiler and that will absorb the light and minimize the reflection. Especially on the darker colored Vibes, you'd hardly notice it. Looking forward to more pics

Looking forward to more pics I actually installed the one on mine first. Anything I've done I always do to mine first. I wouldn't feel as bad messing mine up as I would messing hers up . Fortunately though everything went smoothly with both. I cracked one of the pieces that holds the clips on the backside of the trim piece on mine, but I somehow managed to not break any on my mom's, so that was good. They are very bright during the day, even with the tinted windows, so I can just imagine at night. My mom loves it and my dad was very impressed by them as well . I'm hoping reflection shouldn't be an issue since we have tinted windows. I guess I'll find out in a few hours...Thanks again so much for making these for us Tim ! The check's in the mail !

Awesome Another happy customer (as we say in the service business). Now I'm counting on you to hook up with Michelle and get hers installed in the next few weeks. Hers being a "non-GT" will probably not reflect at all as they have a much smaller spoiler. Hope my instructions were clear & simple enough When removing the trim piece it is almost impossible NOT to crack one of the clip holders Guess no matter how careful we are, it is still going to happen to some of us. Glad all went well
