What? I didn't know they had heated washer fluid. Or had heated washer fluid. Hey, I got an idea - let's just pay the owners $100 to permanently remove a feature instead of trying to find a new supplier that can provide an alternate design! The bean counters are at it again... I assume buying the customer off at $100x1.5m units is saving the company money as opposed to finding a new supplier that can make a replacement part less prone to spontaneous combustion? I hope they won't ever try to handle safety recalls this way. "We'll give you $1,000,000 and remove your air bags instead of fixing them, deal?" http://www.freep.com/article/2...ecall

Therefore, GM can attempt to mitigate the situation in this manner. The supplier already went bankrupt, and GM already performed a recall on these to make a change. I would believe that the engineers have given management information that says it is impossible to heat washer fluid in a manner of seconds in freezing temperatures with a cold engine. Therefore, this is the best option.I did have heated washer fluid on one of my vehicles, and it was fantastic in the winter, since I park outside. Will be interesting to see how individuals feel about losing it for $100.

Heated windshield wiper fluid is not a mandatory feature like air bags.So IMO the $100 is a reasonable offer. Sort of like if the heated seats did not function. And it is not taxable because it is compensating you for a loss.

My question is, how much was that option in the beginning or was it standard? I mean, say if someone really wanted it and had to pay $xxx.xx amount - they should be refunded for that amount at least (if cost is more than $100). McDonald's recently recalled those Shrek Glasses and is giving $1.00 on top of the cost of the the original price - of course we are talking a vast difference in price comparison, but the basis is still the same.
