2004 Vibe FWD Moon&TunesMy wife left the sunroof open last nite during a downpour. About 2 inches of water in the cup holders, seats and floor soaked.shop vac'd the floorboards, running a dehumidifier in the car now.PROBLEM - the radio will not turn off with the key out of the ignition and both front doors open.I can push the volume knob and the radio goes "off", but the clock led light stays on.I am almost certain that the radio would turn off as soon as the key was turned back (off) in the ignition. I do not believe that it had a delay before it shut off...The power windows are normal, they do not operate with the key out (accessory off).any ideas?

My advice would be to pull the radio and let it sit for a few days to try to dry out.

I took the carpet out today, dried it out, wiped everything down, sprayed Lysol everywhere to kill any mold or mildew that may have started. Put it all back together.Radio still stays on after key is removed and car doors open. I am certain this did not happen previous to the water in the car.I am thinking that the radio itself is not causing this...A radio is either getting power or not getting power after the ignition is turned off. Whatever is sending the power to the radio is more likely the problem, the ignition switch perhaps? What is most likely to short out from moisture in the electrical circuit from the battery to the radio? Is there an accessory delay module or relay somewhere? The ignition switch in the steering column?

When ACCESSORY power is turned off with the key, the radio should turn off (clock and all) and the red LED should turn on (theft deterrent system). My clock stays on and the LED does not come on. The radio is still getting power as if the key is on.Does this mean the ignition switch or lock cylinder is not turning off the power?

The radio gets constant power, as you said, to run the blinking light when the ignition is off, and to retain the clock setting. The radio also gets ignition power, when the ignition is in acc or on. If the clock stays on when the iignition is off, then the radio is (or thinks it is) getting power on the ignition switched line. The radio gets ignition switched power from the CIG fuse. You can pull the CIG fuse, and if the radio clock goes off and ithe LED starts blinking it's fake alarmed signal, then you know that it really was getting ignition power with the key off. If the clock stays on, then you know that the radio is the likely problem.Unfortunately, the CIG fuse is in the unhappy to access under dash fuse block

Thanks for the reply, that sheds some light on the problem.I will check the fuse situation tomorrow morning.I checked the cig lighter outlet (both of them) while troubleshooting.. with the key out (ignition off) it DOES NOT power up my phone charger, so it is not getting power, but the radio stays on.I also noticed in the manual, that the dome light fuse also is related somehow to the audio system. What affect does it have on accessory power if any? Thanks again

I pulled the CIG fuse while the key was out of the ignition and the radio was on. The radio did not turn off.I got the wiring schematic for the connector going to the radio. I metered the Ignition Positive voltage. When the key is turned to ACC or RUN, it meters 13 volts, like it should. Then I pull the key out and meter it, 0 volts, like it should be.So I must conclude that the Ignition Switch is not sending accessory (ignition switch) power to the radio, causing it to stay on when the key is out.At this point, I assume that the radio is malfunctioning, thinking that it is getting accessory power, when it is not, and using the constant power circuit that it is receiving to power the radio.Has anyone else experienced this problem?does it sound plausible?Could any other component be causing this problem that i am overlooking?
