Proactive, on toes dealer got me a Vibe!

The most awsome thing happened to me the last couple of days. I had ordered my Vibe GT (Salsa, monotone, sunroof, 6 disc, alarm, etc) from one dealership. Another dealership, whom I was also dealing with (and thus pitting them against each other for the sale) had offered the same price (about 5% over invoice) but by then I had already ordered the thing. This was in April. Last Saturday, I get a call from the "losing" dealership, saying he just happenned to have a Vibe GT, freshly delivered, in stock, that was 99% match to what I had ordered... And I will still waiting for the ordered Vibe to be built! (Scheduled for sometime in Sept.... geesh!)Long story short, on Monday I had bought my Vibe, for the same price as negotiated as before, even with the price increase in effect! Needless to say I called the other dealership and cancelled that order and got my deposit back.Usually I get annoyed at dealerships and their tactics, but right now, I owe them big time, and I'm extremely grateful. And I will let GM Canada know about it too. Also, this dealership has 2 black Vibe GT's and 1 Neptune base auto, so if anyone (near Saskatchewan I guess) is interested, I can find out the options, etc. on these.BTW, this is one sweeeeeet ride....

Consider yourself lucky about your situation and obtaining a dealer delivered vehicle before your ordered vehicle was even built!

Good for you, I am very happy for you Enjoy your vibe you lucky duck. Ken turns and walks away sadly with putty in his hand to fix the leaky windshield on his borrowed lumina, wondering if he will ever get a Vibe

Quote: "(Salsa, monotone"I was just wondering, I ordered my Vibe GT back in Febuary and the only monotone colors available were Black, Satellite, and Shadow (which I got). I wanted to get the Salsa in monotone back then but it wasn't available. I just checked out Pontiac's website and now all the colors are available monotone. I bet that Salsa looks good monotone. Any pictures? I saw a two tone Salsa a couple of days ago and really liked the color. It looked similar to the GT-R concept's color in the bright sunlight. I wish they had them all available at the time of production. I wonder why they didn't. Well, I still really like my Shadow color. Enjoy your new Vibe GT!

Well, I still really like my Shadow color.Probably the limited monotone availability was due to keep production of "wanted" vehicles to a minimum and minimize the amount of options that was initially available. This is just like how they have the Moon and Tunes package and Power Package so people can either get the entire package or not, thus preventing people from nit-picking certain options. It's easier to make a whole batch of an identical vehicle rather than making each one specifically different.

Thanks for the encouragements. I'll get some pictures up soon, as soon as I figure out how to use my digital camera. At the time when I ordered, I was told that there was a hold for the montone option for several colors, Salsa being one of them, but it was being lifted shortly. Of course, after I ordered it, that wasn't the case after all, causing the massive delay....The dealer told me that due to his allocation, and being the biggest Pontiac dealer in the province (but not necessarily the largest GM dealership) his allocations would be first before anyone one else. I guess I believe him now!
