Radio's clock constantly resets to 12:00, electrical problem?

The clock built into OEM radio keeps resetting itself to 12:00 randomly. Sometimes it will keep time for several hours after the ignition is switched off, other times only for several minutes. The volume, current radio station, and presets remain unchanged and the radio otherwise works normally. I don't know if the radio itself is defective or there is a loose electrical connection to the radio causing it to loose power.Has anyone else had this problem?

If it's a 2003-2008, IIRC the OEM radio will retain all presets and equalizer settings but loses the clock if the constant 12V is lost. (compared to a lot of radios that have to have all settings completely reset.)I suspect you've got an issue with the 12v supply to the radio that should be hot at all times.

It is a 2003 Vibe. I was suspecting a 12V power issue, but was puzzled that I wasn't losing the presets, like virtually ever other card I owned. The battery is still the original, and probably on its last legs anyways, however according to the original owner the clock didn't work for years. I'll change the battery and see what happens. If not, it will be time to get out the schematics and a voltmeter.
