"You Are A Health Nerd! You read the ingredients before purchasing shampoo, cleaners and other household and beauty products. It infuriates you that companies are not forced to include all of the toxic substances that they use to make a product on its label."

I am a "sea nerd", it seems. That's about right. In another life, with deeper pockets and more commitment I might have ended up as a marine biologist. Instead, I'm a tattoo artist with a big whale inked on his ribcage and a sleeve full of ocean life

I guess I am far too complicated a person for that simple 5 question quiz. It was only partly correct, but I would say less than 50%Quote, originally posted by Nerd Quiz »You Are A Wildlife Nerd! You love wildlife, from birds to bears to wolves and maybe some of the more slimy, creepy creatures out there. You’ve probably even rescued your own pets. You try to buy free-range meat and dairy products whenever possible.

I would have answered every question "none of the above".Quote, originally posted by HawaiiPontiacLover »You read the ingredients before purchasing shampoo, cleaners and other household and beauty products. It infuriates you that companies are not forced to include all of the toxic substances that they use to make a product on its label."If taken in sufficient quantities, everything is toxic.Dihydrogen Monoxide....the deadliest chemical on earth. We're surrounded by it.

I think they meant the PEG (Polyethylene Glycols), the Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates, the DiButyl Phthalates, Bisphenol A, Formaldehyde, Dioxane-4, etc.

The chemicals listed above in the right amounts and conditions can be toxic...as well as a lot of common, thought to be safe chemicals. Point is, more good than harm has been done by the vast majority of manufactured chemicals....even the ones that some now think are bad.Last time I checked, even with all of these bad chemicals, life expectancy keeps going up. I spend the vast majority of my working day trying to figure out a way to rid the world of Bisphenol A. It keeps me employed. Trust me when I tell you this: In the furture, some of the replacement chemicals will be considered worse than Bis. A.....but this is what the public wants.

I made up my own answers:1) Which one of the following facts most worries you personally:That there are people who believe Al Gore.2) Which ONE of the following (hypothetical) PBS specials would you be most likely to watch:A debunking of all the climate myths and then a documentary on reefs and how we work to protect and create artificial ones.If you could choose ONE of the following dream vacations, which would you choose:A month long trip through Europe hitting many major cities and cultural areas, and a Ferrari on the autobahn. Toxic pollution, HA!If, heaven forbid, you woke up one day and found yourself back in high school, which of the following subject would you be most likely to enjoy:American HistoryIf you could choose only one screensaver or wallpaper for your computer, which of the following would you be most likely to choose: A GTO "The Judge" in purpleDid I pass?

Because of advances in medicine, we save more children that probably wouldn't make it. We save more people that have heart attacks and strokes. We save more accident victims. Advanced medicine also saves more people stricken with cancers....who sometimes go on to have more cancers. My mom falls into this category. Her mother was not so lucky. The first cancer got her and another daughter. We also fight less wars. As people live longer, they will develop more cancers. It's the price we pay for living longer. Vicious circle.Quote, originally posted by ou.grizzly »Those are not illness free years though... I will stop now before this turns into a political debate. They never have been.
