2003 Pontiac Vibe GT 6-speed clutch replacement

I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT 6 speed. Her name is Josie, Anywayz, She has 116K on her almost 117K but it is clutch time. I have looked through mulitple manuals and asked a few other mechanics on advice on changing it myself. It seems like taking it out from the top of the car seems smarter with less complications to the chassis but I am not sure and was wondering if anyone out there has done their own before and which method they did?? Thank you
