Hi guys,Could not find information on that topic on this forum. I am trying to install Sony CDX-GT930UI instead of stock radio into Vibe 2009 AWD. Do you know if I can install it without buying adapter for OnStar support? I don't really care about retaining OnStar features. What wiring harness should I get for installation (no support for OnStar is needed)? Thank you very much.SG

You should be able to use the factory wiring harness. Just match the wires from it to the one for your new HU and you should be golden.

Just wondering how the install went? I'm planning on doing the same thing.

If you have the Moons and Tunes or what ever the hell its called, I recommend using the onstar harness. Unless your replacing the factory amp. Using the RCA inputs on it and adjusting the pot I was able to get a very good sound from my Infinity's with the factory amp. If you don't have it then yea screw onstar.

Btw. I got the onstar harness from crutchfield for 50 bux. The only reason I got it was for resale value. I dont plan on keeping the vibe forever.

I'm convinced that everyone who tries to bypass the onstar system and use a metra harness gets abducted by suits from the onstar corporation. I have yet to hear anyone plainly discuss a post, aftermarket HU install that doesn't use the onstar adapter. Does it work?!

The plain old metra harness mentioned in the other posts works fine. It's so simple, it's really not worth talking about, there's nothing tricky involved. Just match up the wires and plug it in. You will need to directly wire one of the power wires that is not included in the metra harness.

Thd one needed is in the car side of the harness so I just cut and spliced it in directly there.

I wired mine into the ignition. Easy.
