what is wrong with some people?

I wanted to put in a french drain in my back yard. Just to give you an idea of the job. 75foot ditch needs to be dug. Total amount of rock that will need to be hauled up from my driveway up the side of my house and in to the back yard 10-15tons.photo of the side of my house which the side of the house is steepSo I figured I would place an add on craigs list.I posted an add that readwanted temp helper neededLooking for someone to help me dig a french drainmust have a truck, shovels, and wheelbarrow.pay 10bucks per hour20bucks for the use of the truck.Must be prompt.Got like 20 emails in less than 24hrs ranging from the really stupid to the pritty promising. But the topper was this one:"for $ 10.00 an hour you should try getting off your fat a$$ and dig your own French drain another a$$ho!e in life trying to get something for nothing" (sorry for his language)Couldn't help but laugh and have some fun with this Igget. So I replied and said"Hey thanks for your input. You know nothing about the job, or me. You assume I'm lazy and fat when in fact I'm not. You assume that I would be sitting back watching when in fact I will be helping. I didn't want to spend 3 days digging a 75 foot trench and spend another week moving 15tons of rock all by myself. So I figured I would help someone out and offer some cash to someone to help because they could use the extra cash to cut the time in half.Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has them. I can tell you must have a huge one.Next time you decide to send out an email talking trash you might want to try and think a bit, but I know it must be hard for someone with such a narrow mind and lack of intelligence."I wonder if I will hear back HAHA

Oh no...I'm sorry...yeah, CL is full of some real idiots...You know if I were nearby, I'd help. No idea what a french drain is, but I don't mind getting dirty and hey, $10 is better than none at all.

I was trying to sell my Vibe for the past couple of weeks (which I've decided to keep!!) and I know what you mean.. I got NOTHING but spam.. except this one person.. who wanted more pictures.. so I sent them more pictures.. then they wanted my contact number.. So I gave them my cell number.. A few hours later I got a text message.. well 2.. The frist said.. "A Yahoo! user is attempting to send you a message. Press "reply" to continue the conversation! The second said.. "Hey, Im going to super glue my mouth over the tail pipe on your Pontiac Vibe and make you walk all day. What would you do then? Plz tell!(removed)!? Who does crap like this? I'm guessing it was the person (spam) I gave my number to.. never replied.. Never received anymore messages..

^^^ yea usually I will ask for their contact info than do an internet search to see if it's a local number first. If not I won't even reply.I just don't get it. I could do the job myself but I figured I would try and help someone local who is hard-up for cash and help them out with a few hundred bucks.

I'll have to take a few. My plan is to create a dry river bed and install the french drain under that to catch the water from my neighbors yard and transport it underground to the other side of the yard.Quote, originally posted by 09vGT »If you hold off until the first of July I'll help for cash!.. If this was a couple years ago, you'd have to call it a Patriot drain.

the reason for the person with the truck is so I can rent a trencher. My plan is to use the trencher to do most of the hard work then follow up with the shovels. There is no way to be able to get a truck or backho in there with out damaging the fence... and I really don't want to do that being that was just put in two years ago at a huge chunck of change.Quote, originally posted by joatmon »If this was a couple years ago, you'd have to call it a Patriot drain. ^^your correct

I dug my own Freedom drains all around my house, feeding the gutters into them, and then drilling a hole in the curb at the street to channel the water out. I used the perforated black plastic pipes most of the way around, except when there was a tree nearby. I then had to use the solid blue pipe so the trees wouldn't sniff their way in. It doesn't look like you have that problem where you are. I have to go in and flush out the silt that accumulates every 2 years or so. The Freedom drains do a good job, but they are not maintenance free, unless you build a tile drain system.

mine will be surrounded with silt sock and the trench will have a silt liner as well so it will be silt liner, rock, pipe with silt sock, then more rock and then the silt liner will be folded over the top and covered with river rock

you could rent a mini-excavator. the rubber tracks wont damage your lawn and its tiny youd be able to get it in there. it would make quick work of it!planning a summer drain dig my self..

It doesn't look that old. The developer has no responsibility for creating puddling and bad drainage??? Seems to me it was irresponsible landscaping of the unit.I'd contact them, maybe sue for correction. THEY screwed up, they should fix it.Dave

the house is four years old and i'm the second owner... no sence in even trying to go after the builder it's a sore spot with all the owners.
