I can reach down in there, but don't know what the mechanism looks like--feeling my way. Any diagram of the inside of that lift back avail? I don't want to try to remove the entire thing. I have just the small rectangular openeing where the light connection is popped off.

second onethe back plastic just pries off. You'll probably have more luck if you take it off, but I never have, so I don't know if there are larger access holes under the plasticare you sure it's unlocked? if you have power locks, did you try to unlock it both with the remote and with the key? (I know, stupid questions, but had to ask)

2006, the diagram is good-I'll have to study it. I can see the top of the cable assembly and it responds when I pull on the handle and I can hear a locking/unlocking sound. But it kinda looks like what I might need to "feel" is enclosed in the lock assembly, between the two diagrams I received. I've popped the license plate cover but I don't know if I'm up for removing the entire cover. I might go for it but at least I have some good diagrams. Really, thanks!

I bet the lock mech hasn't changed much...yours showed a good view of the inside of the assembly. I can hear it, see the top of the cable respond, but it is not unlatching so it must be in the lock assembly itself. I tried both electronic locking and key lock. Neither is doing it. Thanks.
