My brother owns a car stereo shop, when I got the Vibe he mentioned having installed a head unit once in a similar car and he ran into a mystery cable in that very same area. I know that doesn't answer your question, but at least you're not alone

See when it's hot and when its not. It could also be for the Moon & Tunes amplifier for the sub amp?

hard to tell for sure because the connector is kinda blurry. If it is just a one pin connector, then it could be the one that provides power to the antenna, especially if the one wire going to it is in a loose plastic sleeve. If it's two pins, it could be the one that automatically turns on the AC when you have the air direction control set to half or full defrost.how many wires go to the connector, and what colors are those wires?

its a cable not wiring it plugs in on one end behind the radio bezel below the recirc button. i'm sure it has to do with the A/C/ unit and the doors.

On a Vibe? Actually, I thought that at first too, but since the antenna is in the middle of the roof I thought it unlikely. That's when I thought it might be the trigger (on) wire for a M&T Sub amp.Quote, originally posted by scherry2 »its a cable not wiring it plugs in on one end behind the radio bezel below the recirc button. i'm sure it has to do with the A/C/ unit and the doors.Did the Vibe/Matrix ever come with automatic climate control as an option? If so, then you may be correct.

This is what forces the recirc off when you move the mode knob to floor/defrost or defrost. One end of that (the white side) goes on the recirc switch on the bezel and the other end clips somewhere onto the HVAC control assembly. It's been a while since I've seen one apart but I would look for it to attach somewhere on the side where the mode knob is.

I'd just leave it out. I almost never use the recirc function, and I've got that cable disconnected on the radio bezel side. I've also got the auto ac on defrost wire disconnected. (When it comes to the car, I like to be in control)If you want to hook it back up, you can probably get it back on by pulling the radio and working from there.
