I asked to and got a confirmation of canceling my XM radio service on or about Dec 31, 2009. However, they did charged me for the next three months, in January, but got them to credit my credit card. Two months later, I still am receiving XM radio. Will they charge me again for the next three month peroid? What I am really asking is if anyone else is having the run around about XM service. And, I would like to hear from one who got their service really deactivated. Will I have to recall them again and again to get it Deactivated it?

Call your credit card company and have them not to accept charges from XM.

It is difficult to get them to cancel you. They are shedding subscribers like crazy and they will do a lot to retain them. I've had XM since they became available on the west coast (should have paid for the lifetime plan then, it would have paid for itself). I used to call XM and tell them I want to cancel just to get a better rate. Over the years, I've gotten $20 for 5 months, $77 for a year, $1 for a month, 3 months free, etc. You do need to be firm and persistent with them. And I have heard of people who have requested to cancel, were told it was cancelled, and were again charged. My Sirius and XM subscriptions are up at the end of the month and they will both be cancelled then.Good luck!

mine went like almost a month after it was suppose to be canceled..then one day...5 into listening BAM it was gone

i should probably call and get it reactivated for the summer...but who knows if they will give me a deal this time..they sent me all sorts of deals during the winter! they all expired

Just make something up...you're thinking about reactivating, but you've heard they have changed a lot of music stations and aren't sure if you'll like it, or they took away your favorite station or whatever (it is true they have changed their lineup a lot since the merger). See if they give you a promo rate. If not, just re-up for a month, then a couple of weeks into it call and tell them you want to cancel, they should give you a deal to keep you. The programing is getting shorter... limited. You hear the same songs coming around again much sooner, no matter what program you listen to. Not sure if I'm gonna keep it. I listened to terrestrial radio in Tampa, and the sound quality of some of their stations was way better than Sirius/XM. They have a few good stations down there. But you gotta put up with some commercial breaks. How much is a lifetime plan now?

i got my Sirus raido for x-mas this year i got a 5 months free promo with it...then i think ill have to rethink if its worth the bill each month.I do enjoy the service and the radio its self is very nice!

Do a search of " Consumer complaints " & you will be surprised to see & read those. I got my initial 3 free months, then got called to renew. I tried to cancel @ the normal price, but finally we agreed to $5 for 5 months. She took my cc # over the phone. The card was never charged & several months later I got a " Final Notice" bill for the full amount ! I talked with them & had to be" rude" to get them to cancel my service. I sent the $5/mo charges that I owed them by mail.

For over a year, before we even officially found out NUMMI was closing, I've been working on trimming my costs. But that doesn't mean I need to give up everything. I installed digital receivers in both of my vehicles. The sound quality of a lot of digital ota stations is a lot better than whats offered by XM/Sirius. At least in the San Francisco area, stations are starting to use more of their digital bands so there are many more stations available, and many of these stations are commercial free. In areas where good digital reception is available, I highly recommend considering digital as an option to satellite. Yes,you do have to put up with some commercials, but thats what pays for the service, so thats the trade off.

Just an update as of today. My XM radio has now been "deactivated" on 3-17-2010. What I heard when I was driving today was a XM preview of what's on all the channels. So I press XM4 ( the 40's hits) and it jumped back to XM1, the preview channel. So what I discovered is that XM1 channel will be on for now or maybe all the time. Yes, it's off, but not really off.... like a TV or VCR low power supply.So it took almost 3 months to really stop it. I feel very good now that I will not be charged again (I hope).

I just got an offer in the mail; 5 months for $20 dollars.

When I try to cancel about a year ago, they hooked me for the next three months for about $15.00. After that it went back to $13 to $14 per month. I barely drive the car, maybe a few miles per day. I work from home.I only like listening to the 40's hits on XM4 and sometimes the Sixties and Seventies hits. But I think you got best deal that I heard of. However they may not give it to you again.

Lifetime plan, last I knew, went up to $499.00 Somewhere between last fall and early this year, they bumped it up $100 bucks from the previous $399! Also they get you for a $60 royalty fee and some other BS fees, which brings the total to just under $500. At least that is what I paid last August when I purchased the lifetime plan. We keep our cars a long time, love music, and occasionally travel way out in BFE to where traditional radio is non-existent! So for me the lifetime plan was worth it. Now my big question will be when we try to get another lifetime subscription on my wife's 2009 G8 Gt (just put a down payment on it today ) and I don't want to pay the newer high price. I may have to do some negotiating. We'll see ..........

havent decided on xm yet, been hearing stories about them. they will keep your xm on even if you cancel, bill you anyway if you have a C.C. on file after the trial. dont know if it's worth the hassel
