Some warmer weather, and the snow's gone from the back yard, showing it's been wrecked by a band of marauding moles. I seriously want to kill them. I have pets that share the same turf, so I am reluctant to use poison, and I can't afford a rodenator. Any recommendations on how to commit premeditated, wrath induced molicide?

Those sulfur bombs are a common product.They look like a large fire cracker, light the fuse and dump it in a hole and cover with your bootMuch cheaper than the Rodentator, though less entertaining

The moles are looking for grubs... go buy some grub-x... It won't happen right away, but the dogs won't be bothered by it..

Gurb-X is a solid option. I had good luck with Juicy Fruit gum and a garden hose. Artificially "chew" the gum and place it in the holes you can see. Then flood those same holes. The moles will be attracted to the gum and eat it. What it does to them, I, as an animal lover, would rather not say but my yard was a point of pride and I'll be darned if I was going to let them have it.

My buddies Dad, a very patient man, would sit in a lawn chair with a shotgun on his lap, patiently waiting for a mole. Every once in a while you'd hear a BOOOM!!!He seemed happy with his method, quiet time alone in the yard. Highly effective.Dave

I got a gadget at the local hardware store that connects to my Vibe's exhaust. At the other end of this unit is a connector that fits a garden hose. Put the other end of the hose where you want it and let your car run for about 30 minutes. Works every time.

To capture fossorials, such as your moles, I have always used Sherman or small Havaheart traps. Just excavate a small portion of their tunnel as long as the trap itself, put the set & baited trap ( raisins and grains work well ) with the opening ( or openings in the case of a Havahart ) alligned with the tunnel and cover the trap with a scap of plywood. I have also used asphalt roofing tiles to cover the traps.Once caught, release at your discression, or just dump the whole trap in a large bucket of water, wait a few minutes, empty, dry and reuse.Check the traps at least once a day. Yeah - seems morbid. If you think about it, though, it quickly puts them to sleep rather than having them suffer an excrutiating death as happens with other methods - the one exception being to trap and free. I've successfully used a 50' hose. No muss, no fuss, and it's easy.Works on underground bees nests close to the house, too, but suggest this be done after dark when the bees have calmed down. Even then, don't dally.

next time you get a haircut, take the clipped hair and put it in the holes. the hair bugs the crap out of the moles and they leave.
