Recently got a 2003 Pontiac vibe Base Model, so I installed an alarm and in dash dvd unit. I noticed a week after installation when I would come out of the vehicle and touch the door I would get shock. So I researched online and some say it can be static.I would like to know where to properly place the ground wire on this vehicle, would this solve my issue?Right now, it is coming from the negative terminal to beside the battery.

Welcome to genvibeThere are lots of threads here about static, such as http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id ... d?id=22491 andhttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=32577Doesn't seem like there is a viable way to prevent it all the time, other than to use soemthing like your key to take the shock instead of your finger. It's a common problem in the Vibe, so I doubt it's a result of your audio installation, the human body's electrical resistance is high enough that you won't feel the small amount of current from 12V.

I would say it's got ZERO to do with the install... Static is an ionic discharge.. which culminates in a electrical discharge.. That discharge (the spark you see) is between 50 and 80 THOUSAND volts.. but next to zero in amperage.. not 12 volts.. Static is more common in the cold dry of winter too, if that means anything.. I get shocked all the time getting out of my vibe..
