Torque Brace, anyone?

I just put on a torque brace this weekend...and it was a PITA!!! My boyfriend and I put it in and it really is a 2 person job. There is a noticable difference in shifting, especially from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3...and it chirps like crazy, but that's fun! Anyone else planning on doing this?

There are so many threads on
http://www.matrixowners.com about the torque brace. One dude on there says that is actually damaged his car at the cost of $285.00. This is about the bad.

http://www.matrixowners.com/modules.php ... e+braceOne guys impression of the torque brace installed.

Thanks for those great links Slink...A torque brace mounts from the passenger strut tower to the engine mount that is rigid to the motor to stop the engine from moving when you hit the gas. I am not exactly sure if it would work on an automatic...since those engines don't move as much as a stick. I could very well be wrong, however...No pics Aaron...it completely slipped our minds. I will get some though. We got it on Ebay for $60...not a bad mod. Just a difficult install...

Uhh... eBay? No... got it from killerm on matrixowners.com So far all I can tell is it tends to get the power to the ground more quickly. Which isn't exactly great for a GT off the line. Its real easy to chirp the tires off the line without even trying. It can be embarasing even. The one thing I was hoping for that it would make shifting easier, especially the 2-3 shift, which I have a helluva time hitting at full throttle at 8k rpms. Not sure if it helped at all, I hit 3rd once and missed it once. Not exactly good for consistant runs.EDIT: kinda sounds like I'm knocking it, but I'm not. It gives the feeling that you are less isolated from the drivetrain, a plus in my book.

its for any vibe ,celica, or matrix although the auto guys claims it makes more noise and add less performance the the manual guys . its like a sixty buck mod but i will wait to see if it clears the supercharger before i get one. but the general consensus is that it you care about your car being quiet dont get this mod it will transfer a lot of engine vibration into the vehicle from annoying to get this thing off my car type vibrations. plus its made buy a guy not a company so dont expect warrenties dyno sheets and other little miracles

15.3 impressive... was that hit with or without the brace.

the 15.3 was w/o the brace. Although some have clamed a .1 to .4 sec drop in the the quarter, I'd say the difference would be minimal unless perhaps you are having a real problem with wheel hop (which the torque brace may help reduce or eliminate).

Flex isn't always a bad thing - I think the brace would force the drive train to absorb a lot more of the shock that was previously attenuated (word for the day) by the engine/tranny rocking slightly in their mounts. My next mod will either be sway bars or the flashy engine covers. One is all go and no show, the other all show and no go....
