Check out your local automotive place and see if they have red caliper paint. This would be your best bet so you don't have to pay UPS 2nd day shipping if you buy online.-Slink

I got my caliper paint from Walmart in the automotive section. It's made for brakes and so far looks really good! I started out painting it with a brush (just spray the paint into a can or cup), then I sprayed it for a even shiney finish. It took about 10 coats total to bring out the bright red finish.

I'm debating on painting the rear drums. I like how the back wheel's seem to 'float' right now.

Do you need to use any special cleaner on them first or is soap and water good enough?

I did not have the tools to take them off so I masked everything I could and did it outside in a soft breeze to blow any overspray away from the car. I just used a a good anti-grease cleaner and cleaned the heck out of them. From painting my engine cover I learned to clean it very well otherwise the paint will peel right off.

I was going to paint my calipers today, but when I got home and took off the tire, the damn bolts that hold the calipers on were so tight that I couldn't get them off, and ended up burning my arm on the rotor try again next week, I really don't want to mask them while on the rotors

I'm half tempted to find out how much calipers are and then buy new ones to paint. I agree and don't really want to mask them off to paint on the rotors. That'll be a real pain if I screw something up.

Painting the calipers is about the easiest mod you can do....why the aversion to taking 4 wheels off and doing some painting? I did mine about 2 weeks after I got the car...make sure you have high temp paint and you clean the calipers very well...we used paint thinner to make sure those puppies were clean. Spray in light coats so you don't get any running of the pain...taping it off is slightly time consuming but by no means difficult. You're spraying in a small area--there really isn't a chance for anything drastically bad to happen. All you need is some newspaper and masking tape...and maybe an exacto knife. My boyfriend actually broke a stud getting the tire back on with the torque wrench. That was the only bad thing that went wrong.
