which package do you currently have? It's kinda hard to reccomend systems for people, because it all depends on what you're going after, do you want major bass, or clarity?I've always gone somewhere in between, last system I had was:Kenwood mp3 deck, Soundstream amps and crossover, MB Quart mids and tweets, and JL Audio subs.So I guess I would recommend those brands

I dunno...I had a Kenwood tape deck back in the late 90s in my Bonneville, and it sucked big time...was very unhappy with it...But 'twas many years ago, and can't say they havne't improved since...never bought a new stereo since that one...In general, I've always been a fan of Panasonic and/or Sony...;

i guess you need to decide if you want just a deck, or if you want new everything. i am a music fanatic, so i decided to spulge and get an all round quality system.

In my other car cough cough the one I wrecked before I got my vibe lol! I had (2) 10"Rockford Fosgate Punch HE2 RFP4110 Dual Voice Coils. They were 400 watts RMS, 800 watts peak. I built a custom box. Remember your subs are only as good as the enclosure. Make sure you check specs on speakers for a good enclosure size. They vary per speaker manufacture. They also vary on other factors like whether you want tight bass, deep base, etc. Best thing to do is get with manufactor and ask a customer service rep to send you info or get with a local shop that sells subs they should have an a book the recommends sizes. Please don't put speakers in just any type box lol. You won't get the most out of your speakers. You can find premade boxes to go with speakers though. Just check the dimensions! I also ran a JBL BP600.1. Very nice amp for the money. I laughed when someone told me to go with this amp. Turns out this amp was great stayed very cool in high temps during the summer months. Amp stays pretty cool. Here is link
http://www.jbl.com/car/product.asp?prod ... OS&cat=AMP There are many over great like a Precision Power amp. They are expensive but well worth the money. Only thing is that they are large. But remember heat disapates better the further and more spread out the amp is. Unless its liquid or fan cooled. Also make sure you get a good farad cap. Rockford makes a good one! The speakers I had were not bad but I recommend going with JL Audio or Audiobahn. Remember your speakers are also only as good as your amp. Try not to under power your subs with a cheap amp. Infinity makes a good sub but its more of a crisp bass. They are very clean. Best thing to do is get a budget and then start looking at reviews!

Thank you for the pointers! For the HU, I recommande Pioneer or Panasonic. There's also other good brand. You can buy anything but Sony. Sony Mobile stuff are not very good.In my Vibe, I have a Pioneer 8400, hooked to a JBL amp (180.2) to drive a 12" JL audio (WS-0).Plus, I added a set of Kenwood tweeters on the dashboard to balance low and high frequencies.If you want to see how it is installed, take a look here.
