Hey guys:I have a set of neons at home plug into the cigarette lighter(Standard kind that you can get from walmart). My dilemma:I don't want to just plug it into the lighter socket (looks ugly). I have already split the wires, my question is am i able to solder these wires directly to the back of the lighter socket, so they are hidden from view???My concern is how the heck do I get the lighter socket out of the dash?As well as will it affect the capabilities of the socket? Thanks guys, any input will help.

I can't see it affecting the socket, might blow a fuse if you attach too many of them. The socket itself should unscrew from the back, the wires should have a simple plug design.

I have LEDs in my cup holders & I soldered them to the back of the socket under my centre console. I have not had any issued with them, and I installed a handy rocker (on/off for the lights) where that silly coin holder use to be with my bass knob. (I find the weather affects my tunez) Only problem I have had is the darn Biggie sized wendys cup pushed my led back into the console... but i have to wat for warmer weather to fix it

I used the console socket aswell on my earlier vibe. But my '06 for whatever reason doesn't have it.
