Nope, and I won't be the guinea pig! I can just see that thing getting covered in dust and dirt, easy way to get crud in the tank!

...looks "environmentally" (hydrocarbon vapors) friendly!

I tried one on a Saab and it didn't work because the cap kept the nozzle from opening the flap in the filler neck -- in other words too much space between the filler neck flap and where the cap screws on -- gas got everywhere.

I have a feeling you will get a CEL with it. people with loose gas caps get them.. just think what this one will do with a hole in the middle of it

Funny you post this one of my design classes our team has to design a new gas cap, that is kind of what I was thinking, a check valve type thing. I really don't think it is a big deal to take off the gas cap but my prof thinks otherwise

Except Ford's design is a little more involved than simply replacing the gas cap with a filler hole and plunger. I could foresee this having issues with cars and error lights on the dash for not enough of a seal.Besides it states:"Race fans: Fill up like NASCAR does during a pit stop. "I'll pass

One would assume that this cap creates the proper seal. Your Check Engine Light typically comes on 99% of the time when something is not right with your vehicles emissions like a MAF, O2 sensor, or because their is an air leak in your gas tank and you are emitting Hydrocarbons. Otherwise its an interesting concept. I would prefer it simply because the lip on the fuel door doesn't properly hold the cap and then the cap ends up banging on the side of the car and scratching it.

I would not want one because I need the exercise.
