my 2009 Vibe GT with less than 4,000 miles on it. It has a rattle from the rear compartment (many plastic pieces back there) but I could not locate where. Any suggestions where I should look for.

maybe the rear organizer or something in the spare tire area is loose?

Was one of the locks for the spare tire area or organizer left unlocked? How about the little doors for accessing the taillights. Are they closed tight?

The worst rattles in mine were coming from the fold out panels that hold the organizer open, and the link between the key cylinder and the latch in the rear hatch. The floor pieces also move a little even when they are latched. Some 5/16" adhesive backed weatherstrip took care of the organizer and floor panels. The only solution for the rattling link was to remove it. The keyless entry still locks/unlocks the hatch.

Once the weather warms up (few more months), I will be adding a padding and or felt lining to the back of the trim pieces in the cargo area.

I figured out today that the plastic "bin" that holds the jack was rubbing at the rearmost side against the plastic interior panel. It wasn't as much a rattle as an irritating intermittent squeak - but I'm going to see about putting another felt strip on the spot I could see it rubbing on to stop the noise.I figured it out by removing things one by one until the noise went away. Once I had removed the cargo floor - the noise was more prevalent and I could tell more easily where it was coming from. I'd take the floor pieces out of the car, fold the seats down, and go for a drive. Either you'll hear it more clearly - or know what caused it.Good luck! I hate noises I can't easily solve!John
