Anyone else notice when a post doesn't fully load, then if you go to....

Sometimes when I read a post here on Genvibe, the page doesn't fully load. (some graphics don't load, etc.) I KNOW others have noticed this, but what seems odd to me is that if I then go to another web page unrelated to Genvibe, same thing will happen. Most of the page will load, but some graphics don't show up. If I completely close out I.E. and re-open it, it works fine on the "other" page. It almost seems like when I access some pages on Genvibe and they won't totally load, it corrupts I.E. until I close it and re-open it. I guess corrupt is a little harsh, but maybe "stalls" some graphics from loading on other web pages after I have visited Genvibe. Is it just me, or did I kill too many brain cells when I was younger?

yeah i notice it too, i sometimes disconnect from my ISP and reconnect and everything works fine. it almost seems like that the longer i am on, the weaker the connection gets, at least on my computer.

Yes this is exactly what happens to me! I thought it was just me and I thought if I tried to explain it (I'm not always very good at articulating things) people would think I was crazy! I usually switch to Netscape after this happens and have had no problems using it.

quote:And today, the stall happened there: http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=4241 I didn't notice it for a few days, but that exact post reminded me of it tonight.quote:Yes this is exactly what happens to me!quote:yeah i notice it tooI'm glad I'm not alone. I should go back and try Netscape again. I used Netscape before there was even an "I.E.", but quit using it a year or so ago when they made big changes to it. I've tried Opera and like that quite well also. Thanks,Carl

I didn't expect the turnout to be so big.. I'll get an e-mail out to check on this. Seems to be pointing to an IE issue.

I had a devil of a time with that and IE. Now with Mozilla (PC and Mac) and Safari (Mac) I've had no trouble at all. Not sure what would cause that behavior, but there are several things I don't like about IE anyway so I've just written it off now.

Yes-and what kills me is when people attach a pic that is so large that I need 4 monitors to view it and takes forever to download. You would think people would have the sense to scale down their pics to a proper size. Oh Well-"It's hard to be humble when your perfect in every way................" James

I'm almost positive it's an IE issue...I've been having this problem for a long time....

I'm using Netscape 7.01 and I don't have the problem you describe. This site works good here.

This has been a issue for some time. It's related to IE ver. 6.0 and conflict's with the forum software (zeroforum 2.0.5).

Recently there had been a thread saying we should update the software...do we know if the forum software update would resolve that issue?

If some of the standard graphics don't load the first time you look at a page, and you are using Windows, then:Right click on any of the blank squares.Select "Show Picture" from the list. This will try and reload the images, and almost always works. I believe the non-loading images are simply due to simultanious requests for them (the image files) which reesults in a "not available" error that IE accepts instead of retrying for the file.KSNeptune

quote:Right click on any of the blank squares.Select "Show Picture" from the list.Usually that works, but when I notice the problem I don't even get the blank squares. Lets say I'm typing a reply to a quote, sometimes I don't get all the "smiley faces", or icon buttons to come through, and there's just nothing there. The "help" icon button will be there, but the "post" button will be stalled out, but if I put the mouse over where the "post" should be and click, it will send the post. I don't think it's an issue where my end is waiting for images and they are coming from an overloaded server, but rather a conflict between I.E. and the forum software like Rasermon mentioned.A couple months ago, I thought it may have been my Windows being corrupted (I know that's difficult to believe..... ) but after my last reload of Windows, it still does it.quote:i also have trouble from time to time with car domain.comMaybe it is coming from cardomain.com when someone has a pic in their sig linking from cardomain.com. (??)quote:I'll get an e-mail out to check on this. Seems to be pointing to an IE issue. Thanks Nick.

this problem is so annoying seeing as how I use the internet to get competitive benchmarking information here at work... try doing your job when your internet browser won't let you. dang.

I have noticed that too, but I am online so often, that I have memorized where each button goes. As for the other graphics...well, if it doesn't pop up the way it is suppose too, then I am not gong to lose sleep over it. Having said that, it does irritate me that it happens, but one has to keep it in perspective.

I'm glad you started this thread. I've been having the same problem with this site when certain attachments are downloaded. But for me just closing the browser doesn't always fix it... sometimes i have to reboot. I have netscape but never use it. Now it has a purpose! I'll make GenVibe the homepage for netscape.
