Coming this summer 2010 with a 1.6L 132hp I-4 and a six speed manual. WOW! For a car that is the size comparison to a Fit, Versa, Yaris this thing should rock. Not big enough for me but power alone should put it at class leading. Especially when you can get SYNC navigation and smart entry (keyless). And it's available as a hatch or a sedan!

...a two-door hatchback would be interesting.

I'd take one for a rip but the base 5 door is $3800 MORE then the base sedan... ($12'999 vs. $16'799 before freight, taxes, ect)I hate the look (and function) of sedans so I'd pass on this vehicle but this car will make a lot of people ford buyers!

*sigh* I wish "modern and stylish" didn't translate into everything having that slick "wind swept" look. Reminds me of this:

I like the outside by why does the dash have to look like a Decepticon ready to unfold?

I seem to recall it being the case with the Mazda3..

Anyone think Fiesta is a terrible name? I understand Ford likes to go with alliteration but really? Fiesta?

Fiesta? At least they didn't resurrect "Falcon" - my late Uncle always told me when you buy a Ford you get a Falcon.I remember with the Focus that the Station Wagon only came in the higher trim level - something I thought was a big mistake. Perhaps that is the case with the Fiesta.

I would much rather have the 800hp rally version of the fiesta. They look ok as a 5 door. but most americans don't like the 5 door look so they will sell/make less of them. that is why the 5 door is more expensive

Don't forget about the original Fiesta...Stock with a 1.6L 84hp engine, 4spd manual tranny, 0-60 in 10.1s, optional A/C... only availible in the US from 1977-1979.

As for the price hike for a hatch. The Honda Fit starts at like just a hair below 16k and the update version would probably be over that. So the price point is pretty in line.
