My 2009 Vibe has a overhead console with a drop down door. You'd think you could fit sunglasses in it but you'd be wrong. My Maui Jims are too wide to fit as the arms on them bow out and my old Oakley's have too long or arms so neither of them fit correctly and will get horribly scratched if I used the overhead console thing.So before I decide if its completely useless I am wondering what you use it for.

I was sort of able to cram some cheap wal-mart polarized sunglasses in there, but just barely. My main sunglasses don't fit in there. I tried to keep the GPS in there when not in use, but it was too heavy (I keep it in the center console instead).

A couple of preferred customer cards. Maybe a Colt Model 1908 Vest Pocket pistol might fit in there...

I keep my registration and insurance cards in there, that way I don't have to root around for them on the off chance I need them.

I don't bother using that overhead thing. It's the worst sunglass holder I've seen lol I have to angle my sunglass a certain way for it to close. But I think keeping the insurance and registration stuff in there like morbay says is pretty handy.

I can't find anything to fit.. Either it's to big or to heavy.. So.. I just leave it empty.. :S

Use it for my garage door opener... the clip fell off... works nice.... as I have also noticed the compartment is too small for my Oakleys as well.

My Walmart sunglasses fit just fine in there .

I don't see an overhead console in my 09 base. Is it just a GT thing? Where exactly is it?

Yes, it only comes on Vibes with a power sunroof. It is referred to as a "sunglass holder" by GM.

The most they refer to it is telling you how to open it. The dealer called it a sunglasses holder, though.

My sunglasses fit in there with no problem.
