2011-'12 Chevy Aveo

This is in RS form which I would conceive could become an SS model for them. But even so you can see that they are really going to put a dent in the sales of competitors like the Fit, Yaris, Versa, etc. I could easily see this being class leading. Many of the items on the RS are not even close to available on the other models. 138hp turbo 4, 6 speed manual, 19" wheels. Again not all of this may be on the final sport version but I would bet you will at least see the turbo 4 and tranny available.

That's pretty nice... my mom has an '09 model of one of those things and likes it, we almost got her to switch to a G3 to take advantage of all the deals but she owed too much on it still (that's the problem with lon car loans). I bet she wouldn't mind upgrading to something like that in a few years... I love stylish hatchbacks.

Every internet discussion about the wathering down of the Chevrolet SS badge have always included a joke reference to an incoming Aveo SS..... well... here it is.

That's pretty slick but I won't hold my breath as more often than not some stuff gets lost in the translation from show car to production car.

Isn't this Aveo going to be built in Michigan as opposed the current Aveo being built South Korea?

I really like the design of that, and of course if they don't dumb down the design it'd be nice to see that. It would be a sweeet thing if there is an easy way to get alot of power out of that car.

looking closer, a couple things i noticed. Is that actually a color matching halo!?!?!?!?!?! Also, what in the world is the point of the tiny piece of glass behind the c-pillar??

the RS is concept only, theres no mention of a SS coming. The article also states it wont come with the brake kit or exhaust. Again its just a concept.

That really looks great. It looks production ready to me. It might lose the door handle on the front and they might change the mirrors. Hope they don't cheap out the interior too much.

With a turbo they're only pushing 130hp? Needs an intercooler.

I'm guessing that by going with a Turbo the engineers were able to EEK out an extra 15-20% more horsepower and still get a targeted 35-40 MPG. Nothing like taking something out of the early 1980's Saab playbook.

Very nice... I could see myself buing one...But a BIG -1 on the 19" wheels... For an economy car, I won't be shelling out that fortune to replace tires...I hope they build it and keep the 1.4L turbo! But lose those tires...

I doubt it. I believe people are going to think it is a warmed over Aveo with a body job. There are too many good cars in this growing segment of the market to think this is going to be class leading. I think the Fiesta already has that title and I don't see anything here to believe the new Aveo is going to be better. Don't count out the 500 either. Another EU offering that has won awards. I think these two already award winning vehicles will more than hold their own with the new Aveo.

Hey this is really cool! I hope they make that. This must be a clear imitation of the European car market they've had sporty versions of these cars around for a while. Id rather buy that chevy than any other car in that class any day. Um that concept aveo that is, not the current one. They definitely get extra points if they build it stateside. I think the chevy could maybe use a funkier looking spoiler. I dunno about those tail lights, its like they're trying to make them look like little rocket boosters which is cool but, maybe something a little more grown up wouldn't hurt. ditto on smaller wheels for practicality but those 19" wheels do look good. for people saying they should have more power, check this out. The British already thought of that with the Opel corsa D. It has an option to get a gas 1.6 turbo that makes 189hp and 170 lb-ft torque. Somebody tell chevy to make one of their ecotech engines do that..or at least as an option hehe. I like the styling of this car as well.

New spyshots of the 2011 Aveo.... to say the interior lost the flair of the concept car would be an understatement... then again... we all saw it coming a mile away.Center console is horrible and looks really cheap but I gotta admit the display behind the steering wheel looks nice.

After flipping back and forth between the two pics, it really just looks like option or model differences. The second pic looks like it at least the spot on top for the pop out that the original pic has. of course man vs auto makes a dif since there's leather instead of a plastic surround. AFA the color, I love the all black interior, but this one just looks plain so I'm leaning more towards it being a dif model than the RS. Keeping my fingers crossed lol

Last I checked, the Aveo was the lowest priced entry level vehicle that GM has for the US market. Keeping that in mind I say this interior is a giant leap from old GM.

I dont think I've seen any car worth under $20k that I was that impressed with the interior.
