Has anyone had a problem with their a/c and heat fan motor making a noise at low levels? It's hard to describe the sound. I've searched on here but not found anything yet. It's a 2006 Vibe.

Is it kind of like the sound you make when you roll your r's with you tongue? Mine makes that sound on the highest setting but still works fine.Do all the blower settings still work?Have you checked the air filter behind the glove box to make sure it's not too dirty (there could be leaves, etc in it)?

I had the same problem, my vibe need a new heater blower motor. I was a total of 300 bucks, at my local Pontiac dealership!

I know it may not apply but in my 03 Oldsmobile, when it was cold out, the fan made noise at low speed.

I had a really annoying high-pitched noise on the lowest two settings until today. I followed that How To Replace Fan Motor and got my fan motor out. I opened up the motor casing and used some silicone spray lube on the roller bearing that is on the cap of the casing. I couldn't get access to the roller bearing that is inside of the plastic fan blades. With a paper towel, I dried up all that didn't work it's way in. Put the casing back together then put the motor back in. Then, before I put the computer back on I put the fan onto low speed (no high-pitched noise, horay!), but there is still some nasty sounds coming out because the motor wasn't quite lined up. I messed with the two casing screws that are a fine adjustment for the pitch of the drive shaft of the motor. Once that was dialed in to where the motor wasn't straining against the brushes and the plastic fan blades weren't scraping anything I finished putting the computer back in place and voila! It doesn't make any audible noise at all with the glovebox OUT. Once you get that back in and the car turned I can't even hear the motor at all. Hope this helps you out and stops you from replacing the motor unnecessarily. I am a musician so the noise was driving me completely insane; I'm so relieved to have it gone. ClaytonUPDATE: Noise is back- lube may have worked out or not been proper type. I'll be problem solving it, trying a new lube (maybe grease or thicker), maybe trying to find a new bearing.. I post what happens
