Broken Driver Side Fog Lamp

Ok today when I arrived home, I observed what I thought was ice on the fog lamp lense. Thinking nothing of it. I poked at it with my finger only for it to collapse and the ice I thought it to be was the lense that was cracked to tiny little peices. Now the Question is. The light bulb and the light actually does still work, the only damage is to the fog light lense. Would I have to pay for the entire fixture or can I just install a new lense.I've searched the forum and I can't justify paying 300+ for one new fog lamp fixture.

I went to my local glass shop and had a piece of plexiglass cut to fit. Took some bathroom caulk and popped it into place.

Foolish to pay that much when they are available in the AM for a lot less.Suggest you pull the bulb until the new fixture is installed. And then only after cleaning the bulb envelope (glass) completely and thoroughly with a high content alcohol and allowing it to air dry before installing or attempting to light it... e.g. 70-96%.

Or good Vodka will do the trick! Or tequilla, if the little worm is in good shape Put some eye protection on before you go messing with the bulb. And make sure the bulb contacts aren't corroded when you re-install.

ThanksNot a good idea.W/O installing projectors in there you will blind everybody that comes toward you. Plus I understand that DRL's are law in the upper country and most HID conversions do not work well in that mode. (Flickering.)Get a good set of H4 bulbs and be happy, or do a complete conversion and takes ur chances w/the local law. Don't blind other driver's. Having HID's is not worth the cost of that.

Damn, it's such a nice myth, and it's really not even a worm either, it's a moth larvea. Ok... I give, but hardly anyone I know would be able to have fun with Mezcal and the worm reference since they wouldn't be familiar with it. Tequila, on the other hand, is known widely.rated_w , good work. You might try to find some protective film to put over your lenses to help them from getting broken again.
