Either Tuesday or Wednesday we will be heading to the St. Louis port. They are guessing 46 days to get to the port over there in England. So I changed the oil and looked over a few things it's getting detailed Monday or early Tuesday. Anything I am overlooking? While it is on the boat the crew will be starting it up and making sure the tires are holding pressure.

I'm sure you won't see many Vibes in the UK. Should be fun.

Yeah getting over there and driving on wrong side is going to be something different and than 4 years coming back to the states to the "normal" driving will be something else.

make sure all the fluids are topped off. Actually Ive now heard having a car started frequently while stored is a bad idea as condensation will accumulate. But thats bad for a cold area, not sure conditions on the boat.

You're gonna take that left hand drive to the land of the right hand drive in the opposite lane, so remember that unless you have a trusted spotter in the front passenger seat with you, be really careful passing. To see oncoming traffic you have to stick a lot of the car out in the on coming lane since you will be sitting toward the curb, instead of the centerline. Not good on those narrow back roads. Have a good time over there. Check out as much of their country as you get a chance to, you'll like it. We'll look forward to seeing occassional pictures of your travels!!

If they have more than one car they can even have races to entertain themselves. If possible, I would just disconnect the battery and leave it sit. Ideally it would be enclosed in a cargo container and be inaccessible to the crew.

My cousin used to live in England and would drive his Passat back to Poland. It sucked because he couldn't pass since he couldn't see. He decided to just drive behind other cars and not pass.

that should be cool to see a vibe out there. maybe take it to our buddies at top gear and see if they'll take it for a spin so you were able to get the headlamp issue resolved?

Yes, talked to a shop close by to the base over there. He said US military are exempt from a whole lot of things and it will cost 210 pounds. So not bad.

I know that headlamp restriction and requirements are different in the Euro countries and that was my first thought... like they require a specific side cut off on the RS headlamp?

what base are you going to? I have a friend heading over in Feb to Lakenheath. My father was stationed at Mildenhall for 3 yrs 20 yrs ago. I went to Lakenheath Elemen from 3 - 5th grades and my brother graduated from LHS in 88. I'm hoping to go visit my friends over the next 4 yrs while they're stationed there. I also have a good friend in Germany, so if I can get a nice trip to do Europe, I'll hit her up too.

if your talking about that spot, it was a tear in the leather and that is how the dealership fixed.

Dropped it off today at the St. Louis port. Had to wash it in 5 degree weather once I got there, than drove it through the snow so they could check to see if there were dents and scratches. Well should see it before the 23rd of February.

Woh, that detailing looks great. Your car looks new. Hope it gets there without trouble. Any ice in the river? My car was about a month in route and it took me a couple of months to go get it. I got several notices and the last one said that if I didn't come up to pick it up, that they would sell it. I had bought a bicycle, and really didn't need a car that first summer... but the car really came in handy by fall when it started getting cooler.
