I have 2003 Vibe GT and wanted to know which would be better for it a turbocharger or supercharger? Just want to go for mild modifications and its just my daily driver.

super charger is prob cheaper over all, i dont think you need it tuned at all if u supercharge it but a unichip wouldnt be a bad idea. though a super charger would eat your gas more cause its always engadged.a turbo better overall performance and wont eat your gas up unless you kick it in. but if u turbo the vibe you prob want it tuned and internals replaced with forged parts that can handle it, and also the transmission, but it does depend how you drive it and how much boost you would run.if u want quick, cheap 100+ horse prob go with the super charger.

you dont have to tear the block down to turbo.

If you want a Greddy S/C for the 2ZZ check out these sites:http://www.matrixowners.comhttp://www.9 ... ca.orgThey have 2ZZ owners with superchargers on their sites. No one on this site with a 2ZZ has an S/C.

its a 2zz so I think a turbo or SC will be the same hardness to isntall/tune. as theres no trd kit for it. Both will be a custom (greddy or a turbo kit) to get it FI'd. SC is a good daily driver, turbo is good but great for more power.

I think turbo is better. It's usually better on gas and has more power potential. S/C or turbo you need to get your car tuned. A good kit will run you about the same for either about 5k. Things to look for in a complete kit is that it has engine management, fuel injectors, and all hardware needed. Most S/C kits have everything you need, lots of turbo kits are sometimes incomplete so make sure it includes all hardware especially manifold, downpipe, injectors, and engine manangement. You can safely boost the 2zz to between 6psi-10psi which will probably net you 50-80 extra hp. After that regardless of if it's a turbo or a S/C you need to think about redoing the internals, low compression pistons, and forged connecting rods, and high performance piston rings. You also want to go with colder spark plugs to guard against detonation. http://www.monkeywrenchracing.com sells alot of good parts for the 2zz engine. http://www.newcelica.org and http://www.matrixowners.com are good sites for info on the vibe gt, because the matrix XRS is pretty much a vibe GT. also a Corrolla XRS has is based on the same platform but is slightly different I think in exhaust and spring stiffness. The celica GTS has the same engine as does the lotus elise.
