five rapid beeps

Not a problem I hope but ??????.I have been tooling around in the recent snowfall checking out the turning/braking on my new Altimaxes. The tires get rave reviews but when hitting the brakes suddenly, 5 rapid beeps (less than a second) sound at the moment I hit the brakes. No instrument panel lights. Anyone have a clue what this meant? I assume brakes, tires, seat belts, airbags, or something

Is this happening in the Gamma or the Delta vibe?In 2009-2010 models, this quick serie of beep is the traction control informing you that you are slipping... as if you hadn't noticed that yourself already. This has led to some furious word exchange between me and my imaginary Vibe AI during winter driving.....-Vibe "...Beep Beep Beep you are currently slipping without control"-Me (somewhat panicking) "I know you stupid FWD piece of junk I'm trying to gain some control back, how about helping me!!!"-Vibe "Don't be ridiculous my job is only to inform you that you are slipping out of control... not actually do something about it"-Vibe "Although I could always engage ABS to **** you up some more...there I activated it"-Me " Oh ****..."I hate FWD cars in winter... Once you had a taste of AWD you should never go back. My vibe and I have a very complicated love/hate relation between November and March.

it is simply your stability control bikeman. I've been playing mine for the past two days, slipping and sliding around having a great time in the snow.

not to contradict anyone but could it also be the stability control system(anti roll control) if he is turning while hitting brakes hard...just a thought never driven the newer ones with the system

Yes. TC does 3 beeps when spinning the tires. VSC does 5 quick beeps if you get too far out of whack. If you spin the tires just a bit the light will come on and you will feel the system work, but not beep. Same with VSC. You need to push the systems good to get them to beep! Snowplowing through a corner will do it! The light flashes quickly and during the day (or if you're not looking at tthe insrument cluster) it's hard to catch!

This was certainly 5 beeps and was a turning hard skid, e.g. stability control had applied the brakes. And the console light could have certainly flashed....was gone by the time I checked. GM is trying to spoil all my fun carving donuts!a) Where are all those sensor "beep" values documented? They are not documented in the user guide. Is there a source for this?b) here is a good 2006 post (with some chippy parts but a good post nonetheless) on TC, VSC, and ABS. Guess I didn't even realize I had bought ABS standard on Delta Vibehttp://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=24603Truth be known, I am sometimes amazed at what a wealth of information there is in the GV archives. Bought our first Vibe in Feb '03 and not sure how I got along without it. KUDO to Genvibe members.
