Totally forgot to tell you...

That I bought my new baby back in early Sept! Got an '04 Sunburst GT...exactly what I wanted, but it was damn hard to find...oh, so worth it.I had to fly to Fredericton, New Brunswick! But, since there were only 2 others available in the whole country, I picked the closest one.It was about a 16hr drive back, with no major problems...excepting a muffler valve that needed replacing by the time I returned. I paid 10 grand, all in, with almost 93K on it.Now I need new tires, all season (as I'm moving back to BC next month) and am finding it a pain in the (removed) comparison shopping. Seems like prices vary, reviews vary, etc...so I don't know which way to go.I've got 215/50/17's on there and would prefer to be under $500 installed if anyone has any suggestions?ETA: I had a great experience with O'Leary Pontiac. My sales guy picked me up @ the airport, let me stay @ his lake cottage, then picked me up again in the morning. Really, top-notch!

Wow, I want to buy a car from O'Leary Pontiac, and stay at the lake cottage! But I think I'll wait for a little warmer weather. You know, that could be a great marketing ploy/incentive! Guess you got to know the car pretty well after 16 hours. Glad to see you like to shift for your self! Way to go. Muffler valve? Are you going to drive your GT to back to BC next month? You know it's Winter by then, right. All seasons work really well in all seasons in places like Florida or maybe Aruba. I'd go with a descent set snows, if I were going to undertake a winter expedition/trek like you're planning. I've driven the Trans Canada in summer... great trip! Winter, could be different. Even going south through the States, on interstate 90/94 or 80, you still have those little bumps along the Continental Divide to get over. It can be pretty grim during winter weather events! Congrats, finding that Sunburst GT! Please keep us posted on your Vibe and your up coming 'trip'.

No snow, just rain... and the tires work ok for that. Quote, originally posted by K-NINE » Down puppy, down

Hey, I have familly all over that town, and know for a fact that it snowed there once. Of course, if you happened to sleep in that day, say past sunrise, the snow was already gone. Here in Maine, we have 2 basic seasons, the wet cold season (summer in terms of northern hemisphere/sun relationship) for about 3 months and the snowy frozen season (winter) the rest of the time. You are weather spoiled, down there!

I don't think the south is weather spoiled. personally I love the 2 feet of snow we have now and the over 300 of inches annually. I could not live without it, some people try to take vacations where it gets warmer during the winter. I on the other hand prefer a place where the skiing is plentiful.

Need to pick up my pass and since we're in the freezer right now (it's 2 degrees above zero F at 7:45 pm), the ski area will be deserted tomorrow. Few around here go out and ski when it's below zero (Fahrenheit), so it's like beeing on a private mountain. Great way to start the season.

I think Tennessee winters are boring--it gets cold but no snow (at least in Middle Tennessee). If it's going to be cold, you might as well have some snow with it! Maybe I'm just a little sad that I haven't used my snowboard in 4 years....

If you do, talk to Dennis...it was his cottage. He's been there for >20yrs, so I doubt he's going anywhere!I did, and NB has amazing highways...all brand new and smooth, along with a higher speed limit! And stick is the only way to go. What's the point in driving if you're not connected!?!Yep, a muffler valve...it helps with noise control. It was sounding like a rice rocket by the time I got home and it's purring like a kitten now...I'm going to be driving through the States, I hate doing the Trans Canada in the winter. I figure I'll @ least go down as low as OK...do the 44/40. I've driven across the US and Canada about 10x, so I'm pretty good w my route. Btw, I got Kumhos put on on Friday and it's made a huge difference...it still had the original Bridgestones! I despise snow! I don't ski, hate the cold and can't stand hockey...I'm really, quite a bad Canadian. I'm off to Cuba in a couple of weeks, for a week, before I leave for BC...went to Jamaica in October, too. I'd much rather lie on a beach than be anywhere else.I can, however, drink like a fish...so perhaps I spoke too soon...Quote, originally posted by midnighthunder89 »I don't think the south is weather spoiled. personally I love the 2 feet of snow we have now and the over 300 of inches annually. I spent the first 10 years of my life in the tropics, all of them in Cuba. After about a year in power, the then new Fidel regime profoundly encouraged our family to move away, giving us 24 hours to leave or face imprisonment for being Americans. Eventually I moved north to the Finger Lakes region of New York, where I became a real fan of cold Winters, skiing, skating, sledding and all the rest that goes with it. Those Tropical beaches are great to visit, but not in summer, when I find them way too hot to tolerate. You picked the right season for them. Good luck on your travels to Cuba... what part are you visiting? I haven't had the chance to go back since I left, but I have a library's worth of fond memories for that Island and its people. By the way, great looking car, glad you posted pics for us.

I'm going to a resort just outside of Guardalavaca, where I went nearly 2yrs ago, called Playa Pesquero. The people are wonderful, as is the area... I feel badly for the Americans, b/c they can't take advantage of such a beautiful, close, affordable destination... I like going to Cuba b/c of all of theabove and also b/c I know I can help. I always visit a local clinic and bring Prenatal Vitamins and Tylenol, since their issue is supplies, not style of living...I can't agree with your choice of weather and sports, but I can agree with your assessment of my baby...;D Quote, originally posted by vibolista »This is too funny!
