New Antenna

The stock antenna is a little long for my taste. I know that if I get a shorter one, I will lose reception, but I'm not interested in the reception. Does anyone know how to get a shorter antenna??

You could cut the antenna and get it the exact height you want. Here's a link to a description of how to do that courtesy of the people at MustangWorld.com

If you don't care about radio reception, you could always simply unscrew the antenna and put it away until you decide that you want it again, as I do when I drive through a car wash. Incidentally, this is also handy when carrying long objects, like water/snow toys on top.

UPDATE: I took the short Honda antenna that I bought for the Passat and tried it on the Vibe. It fit!! I am going to be purchasing one of these antennas for my Vibe. They are shorter and I didn't lose any reception when I put it on my Passat. Now I know that some people who put it on their Passats did lose reception, but each case is different. Also, the fit isn't perfect. It will screw in fine, but the bottom of the antenna is thicker than where you need to screw it into. You can hardly tell, but if you're (removed), you won't like it. You can order the part from hparts.com. Click on the "Search Parts" link on the top right hand of the page. The part number is 623621.

Here's a question for anyone tht may know the answer. When we back our Vibe out of the garage the antenna gets stuck on the garage door edge and bends forward then bounces back, it this a really big deal or should we put something on the door so it can more smoothly slide rather then get stuck? Thanks for any ideas...

I have this same problem. My garage door opens too low so the antennae hits the door.

If it's just bouncing, no harm. It's designed to do that.If it's getting STUCK, and getting pulled on before coming loose, that can cause problems...

Adjust your garage door so it opens higher.
