AT Hard Shift: Weather related or other issue?

2006 Base AT, 110K miles. I just noticed yesterday as I was driving home that it was shifting much harder pretty much every time except for down-shifts. Yesterday was our first snow/ice combo of the year. I utilized the OD button and 2nd gear quite a bit during the morning commute through my city mainly. This is a practice I've used many times before like other members with AT's. I have never had the fluid flushed or drained. (Yes I'm ready for any punishment that you all will dish as I'm sure I deserve it.)The hard shifts continued this morning as well. Since Friday, our weather has been consitantly at or below freezing for the first time this year. So could I be looking at a tranny issue or possible just a weather issue? Thanks in advance!!

I've noticed that sometimes my tranny will shift hard at random times. I'm not sure if it is a problem or not but am interested in what others say.

Pick up some Toyota type IV fluid at the dealer, get a new pan gasket as well. Drop the pan, clean out inside and magnet, remove and spray the screen filter with some brake cleaner to clean the dirt deposits. Put it all back together and fill with about 4 quarts of tranny fluid. Make sure the car is warm, check the level and add if necessary. Change the fluid by the drain plug every other oil change until the fluid looks clean on the dipstick. (about 2 changes) Hard shifting problems should be solved... Of course, if you can't do it yourself, any good mechanic can do it... just give them the fluid to avoid them using the wrong type.

I would assume since the tranny fluid wasnt changed at 60K, I would start there & see what happens. Good luck!
