Irony in cadillac commercial

There's some new-ish caddy SRX commercials out which are mostly just the run of the mill car commercials but the music they play is 1901 by Phoenix. That song was written about the 1900 Paris world's fair; previous to it everyone was expecting some sort of massive revolution, everyone's life would be better and it would be some amazing new world, but in 1901 there was an air of disappointment, nothing happened, things were no better than before.Seems like that's what's happening with the whole GM restructuring thing.Does anyone else find this slightly funny or at least interesting? This is the commercial I'm talking about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CasjUOwkdI

At first I thought you were saying the song was from 1901, and when I watched I thought, "There's no way there was techno music in 1901." Then I reread your post and feel rather silly.

True, there is a lot of irony there, but most people don't know the song and the meaning behind it. The song has a catchy beat to it, and so it plays well into the realm of marketing.
