Im looking to get 20% all around tint on my 05 abyss and i dont know if i should spend more and get pre-cut film from snaptint.com or just buy a standard roll of film from advance auto parts and try it myself. I have helped a few friends in the past so i know how to do it, but would it be worth the money to try a cheaper alternative first and then go more expensive if it doesn't work?*AAP sells gila film with a 4 year warranty, most likely what id buy.

if it was me, i would go with neither one. i highly doubt those tint from the store or that precut ones are that good in blocking heat. those are probably the ones i've seen in the streets that turns purple over time. i would just take it to a pro to get it tinted but if you've done it before and it came out good then i guess you can try again. but maybe invest in some tint that has good heat rejection too.

I personally have never met anyone who has been satisfied with their self tint, but maybe I'm just not talking to the right people. If I _were_ to do my own, I'd go with the precut for sure, it's like $20 on eBay for the Vibe I think.I'm saving my pennies to have a 20% all-around tint put on mine sometime soon, and I'm planning on using a shop. The job the local place does is just SO GOOD, and the self-tinted cars I've seen are so bad....

I like the new gila film that will not leave the glue behind if it needs to be pealed off.I haven't had one issue with my tint turning purple in all the years I have tinted cars.If you know how to clean it correct it won't be an issue.
