Coil replacement problems

I recently replaced the coils on my 03 and it ran like crap after the install. I was getting a code every now and then that stated a bad coil.So I got new ones. After the install it looses power about 1500rpm and then dies sometimes. I put the old ones back in and it runs fine. Anyone experienced this? Do I need to reset the PCM or is there a learning process for the new coils?
