Amtron - 2009 Saturn Astra XE

Well...I got another car. If you hadn't heard in other threads, this is my third car since May. My first car being my beloved 2005 base abyss Vibe (
http://forums.genvibe.com/zerothread?id=35580) that brought me to this site. It was fantastic until I wrecked it into a dividing wall on the freeway. So, many mechanics quotes later, it ended up getting sold to a scrap yard. RIP. So next I moved on to a 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GT (
http://forums.genvibe.com/zero...61174) in Black Pearl. Well equipped with MIVEC. It was a sick whip and I loved every minute of driving it. It was a deadly car. Or near deadly rather. I flipped it into a marsh, and it got completely written off. The first payment hadn't even come out of my bank account for it yet. RIP. So, after months of having no car, I finally got another one, a 2009 Saturn Astra XE. It's drives pretty much exactly like the Vibe does. I don't know too much about the car other than that it's the North American version of the Vauxhaul Astra. I know better than to end this post without pictures, so, on fear of the angry mob, here you go:I only had a macro lense on the camera I was using at the time, so I only got close ups, sorry..

Take it to your local mall parking lot after hours and drive the s*** out of it there. It's a good way to get the feel for the limitations of the car without having to worry too much about other cars if you fishtail or snowplough through a corner!(Note to self: Remember that cops and mall security frown upon such behaviour... use the back of the lot.)

Good choice. I've been in love with this car since I saw it on Top Gear a few years ago.

I can only imagine you insurance rates, since you're in Ottawa. Ouch! Try and keep this one planted on the ground. Use it well.

That is the only other car I really considered when I just bought my Vibe. It was just a little smaller and I need the most space i can. Nice car.

Especially for the winter driving to get a good feel.Quote, originally posted by bull77 »nice headlights lol Saturn did a better job installing them than I did Quote, originally posted by Feelin’ The Vibe »Glad to hear from you on here again. I've been in love with this car since I saw it on Top Gear a few years ago.Yeah I put a lot of research into it, it's a really well designed car.Quote, originally posted by lowincash »i saw a lot of these cars during my trip in china. it's the opel astra or something. it's a nice little car. is yours the 3 or 5 door hatch? i was going to get the 5dr version when i was car shopping because it has a huge panaramic moonroof =DYeah I'm pretty sure it is made by Opel or Vauxhaul, or one owns the other? I got the 5 door, it's just easier to get in and out of the backseat in. Unfortunately mine doesn't have that sunroof though Quote, originally posted by sgp2012 »the astras look really nice. i wanted one before i got my vibe.Quote, originally posted by midnighthunder89 »That is the only other car I really considered when I just bought my Vibe. It is a bit smaller, but I don't need the room.Quote, originally posted by ramenboy... »lookin good! love the astras. a little smaller than the vibe, but its a true european car.amtron's astra for vibe of the month!!!!!Thanks bud! I'm a little late for the nomination though lol..Quote, originally posted by Capt.Vibe »I can only imagine you insurance rates, since you're in Ottawa. Ouch! Try and keep this one planted on the ground. Use it well.Working out crap with insurance has been brutal. I had a free at fault collision under the policy, so I used that. The catch to it though (which they didn't tell me until after I got a new car....NOT impressed) is that they won't renew my policy come February when it goes up for review. So I don't know what kind of premium I'm going to have to pay.
